Hi guys,
Found this gold cap 168.025 watch on sell locally, the watch look in a good shape, although I have not seen the movement yet as its need a watchmaker to open the case. I don't see any in the forums lately, not sure if it rare or just not an interesting model? The seller asking around 850 USD. Please give me your thought on the watch and its model.
Cheers

$850 isn't a bad price for one of those, but that one seems to have dull case edges from polishing.

I don't know about collecting but I'd certainly buy that to wear (had I not enough watches!)

I have that case in SS with a somewhat challenged pie pan dial that I wear as a daily watch, and love. It cost less than that when I bought it a few years ago, but don't forget servicing. I love the case style. I had three watchmakers not understand how the movement is fixed in the case--and I certainly didn't--and it was not fixed properly so the stem kept falling out. I finally had that resolved very recently after posting about it here and getting fantastic detailed advice that explained it all. The monocoque case is not so common. I likely spent about as much on servicing as for the watch. That might not happen to you, but you should be aware and go to someone who knows that watch. Great movement obviously.

$850 is way too much for that watch.

1. It is Ref. 168.015, not .025. That's the pie-pan version.

2. If the engraving says 168.025, it's a frankenwatch.

3. Crown has lost it's plating. Don't know if you can get another. They are unique to this watch.

4. Too much polishing.

Dial is original though.

Thank you guys,
I did not see the engraving but looked it up on the Internet and found the pie pan dial, thought Omega did both dial using the same ref 😀 .... I didn't notice the crown, thanks!
