Why are some boxes so sought after selling for over $1000 while others much less.

The moon motif is visually appealing, but I’d think boxes from the 60s would be more rare and supply/demand would exact a high price too.

Many of the boxes from the 60’s were used for several years and various models so they’re fairly easy to get. This was used for around a year and just for a single model so fairly rare.

Gotcha. Mine is read and fairly generic.

Does the paperwork really add value when the numbers don’t match the adjoining watch?

Dear all, I'm looking for a box for my Omega Geneve... any idea where I can buy one original or new (but similar to the old models), please?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

and also where I can find information about suitable straps? Sorry for so many questions but I'm new in this forum. This watch has a special sentimental value for me... I was owned by my grandfather and when He died, my grandmother gave it to me saying: "your grandfather would have enjoyed you wearing his watch..."

EBay or the parts for sale section of this forum.

There are lots of threads on straps etc. Have a look through the forum using the search function as lots of your queries will already have been answered.

There is one with a PDF of the models and all associated bracelets and end pieces.

You could change the hands out and make other “corrections” if you wanted it to be authentic to the original - but if it was your grandfathers, you could also considering keeping it as is (services excluded) or making it your own as your grandfather did.

Many thanks for your answer and comments! 😀However, I've been browsing in a lots of threads and I wasn't able to find that one with that PDF... 😢 In which part of the forum should I focus my search?

It's not usually effective to hijack someone else's thread, why not start your own thread, and introduce yourself to the members of the community.

Also, note that want-to-buy requests are not allowed in the general forum, only in the sales section and only after you have 200 meaningful posts. Until then, you will have to research the correct box and hunt on eBay.

Finally, this forum has an excellent search function where you can do research. There is a huge thread on straps with many specific suggestions for suppliers, so there's no need to duplicate that here.

Browse through this long box thread for your enlightenment on the options. Something like this with a slot for no clasp side of strap would be appropriate for age and style of your watch. Be aware that, with some exceptions, there is not exact correct box for your watch but if you would like period correct one this would do. Search eBay for vintage omega box they are plentiful.
