Judge Judy would have compensated for value of the watch plus the sentimental value. Probably judge Joe Brown as well...

Really sorry to hear this. My most treasured watch is a quartz rotary that is worth very little but my mum gave me just before she passed away. Cant imagine loosing that as the sentimental value cannot be replaced even if the watch can.

Hope you get this resolved, they should at least give you the value of a new speedmaster, I think purely giving you only the value of the watch for its year and condition is not acceptable and they should fill the gap between that and a new replacement. Or atleast see if they can source you a similar second hand watch.

Firstly, sorry for your watch loss,

I would contact Omega and or the store, and in a very polite way explain the situation, explain what you think is a reasonable solution and why you think this is fair. Do not make any demands, just solutions that you would be happy with. Let them know that you understand that while they might fulfill their legal obligations your loss is more than a financial one and that at the very least a new 2016 speedmaster would help towards your reducing your disappointment. Emotive language with a hint of tragedy is more likely to get you a new watch than emotive language with a hint of outrage. I am sure a reasonable solution will be the outcome in the end.

I would go in every day and ask for my speedmaster, or a new one until I walked out with a speedmaster.

( I'm a stubborn prick but 😗 )

And being a big sun seasoned outdoors Territorian type with ex-butchers arms and hands they'd probably just give you the latest LE Speedie without questions just hoping you'd go away and never scare them again.

If this were a non-branded AD that had lost the watch in shipping to Omega, I would expect his kind of response. But for it to come from the Omega Boutique is different, IMO. I would continue to press for a new Speedmaster. If they keep insisting on only a credit, then demand the equivalent in cash and take your business elsewhere. And make sure to let Omega know about it.

Yes, as I think about it the Boutique's position is completely untenable. They don't want to pay out a dime; they'll be getting the value of a used watch from the shipper. Then they want to use the occassion to sell you a watch a MSRP which they paid for at wholesale with the payment from the shipper's insurance. Lost watches is a profit center for them.

If this happened to me, i would directly talk to the manager of the OB/AD and see what he says ( the Voice recorder is on in the pocket ) 😉

Accordingly i will report the Omega

Cheers

The manager might not talk to you if you're recording, and recording without disclosing that might be illegal in itself and not admissable in court. State laws vary. You have a good case, I wouldn't compromise it by doing something illegal yourself.

Print this thread and show it to the manager.

I don't understand what your problem is ? The Boutique has been informed this is an issue of concern with our members. They can respond if they chose. How that threatens you I don't understand. You need to chill.

I have some experience in customer service and if what I've read here is accurate, the response is nothing short of disgraceful. If a "reputable" major company screws up, it should consider the image it is presenting to its present and potential future customers and make appropriate amends to the customer. I think this AD needs to watch Pulp Fiction and take a leaf out of Mr. Wolf's book.
