I was able to save this today. Wish it had the case. I have a few other Birks Eternas but this is the first Birks Omega I’ve come across. Any info on what case would be needed or any info in general would be appreciated.. if you have one feel free to post a pic,

Thanks

I just picked up a Birks Eterna myself; but a Birks Omega is a new one on me - I'm sure others more knowledgeable will be along soon!

I have only seen one other - a Birks Ellis Omega tank with a R17.8 calibre. Most of the Birks branded watches I have seen have been Eterna Challengers. I have one, myself that has crazy patina.

That dials crazy! Is it gold capped? Until yesterday I had no clue that A Birks branded Omega existed. I have a few Eternas and 3 Birks Eternas but when I came across this Omega I was pleasantly surprised. Learn something new everyday

It is 2 tone, gold capped with a solid gold bezel. I bought it at an estate auction approx. 4 years ago. The crown was worn out and the crystal was scratched so bad, that you could barely read the dial. I had it serviced and the crown and crystal replaced shortly afterwards. My watchmaker thinks smoke and maybe UV caused the patina, as the movement was pristine with no signs of moisture. I wore it regularly for a couple of years but it sits on display now. It looks like you are collecting Birks branded watches.

I love Canadian history but not collecting Birks branded specifically. Over the years I’ve picked up a few here and there... I have so many watches I don’t know what to do with them ha. It might have been a reaction between the paint and dial metal or overcoat, even quite possible the paint mixture was off. Either way it’s a great looking watch.

I have a fair number of Birks signed watches; mostly Eterna as stated above, but also a Breitling and an Omega (WWII vintage). It would appear that Omegas with the Birks logo are quite uncommon, likely due to the strong chain of ADs across Canada in the past.

Birks continues to market watches in Canada, including Rolex, Patek, Cartier, etc. I don't see Omega listed on their website, and I have not seen any in our local store or those I have visited elsewhere.

Omega stopped being carried by Birks some time back - but had for decades before that, as I remember it.

Resurrecting this old thread to ask if anyone can help me date this black-dialed Birks watch. The double 'B' was Birks logo for years, but I haven't seen it on any of my other watches (most date to 1960s and earlier). It appears to be an A Schild 1680 movement. I just had it serviced by my local watchmaker, who also replaced the crystal. Dial is untouched.
Any info on this would be appreciated!!

Another Birks house brand name was Rideau. I have one. Rarely wear it.

Happy to take care of it for you if you ever feel the "urge" to sell...I have a few Rideau pieces myself:

Were the Omega one pusher military chronos for the RCAF delivered to Birks first and then to the RCAF ? Does anybody know? I've seen one of these Chronos with a Birks dial many years ago. Could have been a repainted dial, forgot to take pics .... Kind regards. Achim

According to the seller of this one on MWR, when the monopushers were decommissioned, they were handed to Birks to sell...don't know if that is the whole story, but working the webs for more info!
