Those damned squirrels stopped by to drop this off today. Case is nice and sharp, dial is original with sharp numbering - a bit of browning in the centre and some bits of broken spring bars in the lug holes are the only issues I can see.

I left the model and movement details at home but will post them tonight if I can.

Interesting as Birks is no longer an AD for Omega as of a few weeks ago....

I saw that when quickly looking to vet the dial.

Nice Watch, I would it is a ref 964. Two views from some 1933 catalogs :
[IMG] (this last one was issued during 1933 to advertise the creation of 'acier staybrite ', the Omega stainless steel of that period.

Mine is still looking for a decent dial to replace this one made by a blind guy, but nevertheless says hello :
    This one is a Naiad CK 2111 with the three slots back. Also existed with a six slot back, I think the three one was the earlier;

    A view from the 1940 catalog :
here on the Omega Database : http://www.omegawatches.com/spirit/history/vintage-omegas/vintage-watches-database?ref=25889 (with a mistake, never existed with a press in back).
    Mine says hello :

Great information! I'd taken mine to instead be the CK 2108 with the sub-second dial, no? (Omega's database has the same incorrect information regarding a press-in back for the CK 2018.) Great looking CK 2111.

Yann, what a wealth of knowledge, great graphics and fantastic gentlemanly demeanor you bring to this forum!
As I am a pre-war addict (smoking with Spiki in the back room), I'd sure love to browse through your accumulated repertoire!

"I'd sure love to browse through your accumulated repertoire".............. I haven't used that line since Prom night '69.

Hadn't Birks been an AD since the 20's or something? Any word on the reason for the parting of ways?

Also, from looking around, it appears Birks Got their name on quite a few dials back in the day. Was this common for the early ADs or was Birks special in this regard?

I don't know what the reasons were for them either losing or dropping their AD status. I do know they no longer discount, although I did buy my first JLC from them a number of years ago and did get a decent discount.

Birks is the equivalent of Tiffany's here in Canada, or at least it once was. Of course we also have Tiffany's here, but Birks was the big name jeweler for decades here. I think their stature has lead to their name being on dials, just as you see other big name jewelers on dials of watches.

Not my photo, but this is a WWII era Canadian Eterna military watch sold by Birks...

Sadly I missed this one when it came up on eBay....still regret that....I forgot about the auction and only remembered 15 minutes after it was over....should have put in an earlier bid!

    Cheers, Al

Mayors (Birks subsidiary in FL/GA) was an AD for Omega until recently as well, but only in certain stores. Most likely those that were not in an area served by an Omega Boutique. Since Omega has opened a lot of Boutiques all over the US recently, those locations not in competition were getting to be very few, so my guess is that it was easier to stop selling Omegas altogether.

Perhaps this is a subject for another thread, but shouldn't we try to assemble a database of vintage Omega catalogs photos and/or links on this site for reference by collectors? It would never be a substiture for the official Omega Vintage Database on omegawatches. com, but could become a good complement.

I have a couple in my picture files (1937 Swedish and 1950 Swiss/English). There are several over on the Old-Omegas website that are watermarked. Perhaps we can get permission to integrate those here.

    Thoughts?

    Great idea.

I've collected a bunch of digital files over the years too.

I for one would certainly frequent and contribute to such a site.

It would seem to me that this sort of database would need to be able, ideally, to index via catalog years (for starters), to be most helpful and coherent. This forum's functionality, however, isn't too conducive to such a format, given the inherent limitations on categorization and searches.

Very cool. I will look around "The Omega Book tonight" to see if they have any pics or text about it.

Here's mine, from the big book. Interesting to see the comparison to the Birks rearrangement.

It's on page 121 of AJTT, one of the CK96x watches with a 20F calibre.

I will take a look tonight when the woman and baby hit the hay. Is the avatar you use a famous person?

Well, that depends on what you regard as "famous" :p
