Looks like Costco is back in the Omega game. A few pieces have showed up online and I am checking local stores as they have some in the stores in WA currently. Not sure if I’m-store selection varies. Price seems approx 15% off Omega list for the HB-SIA which is sold out through Omega online.
Old news. They've been back for at least 5 years. I was in Costco over the weekend and they had a Seamaster Planet Ocean Perpetual Calendar. Still grey market though. Backed by Costco warranty rather than Omega. gatorcpa
All your savings from eating their food court pizza has to go somewhere. Might as well put it towards an uncommon Speedy
They were off of the online platform since at least July and not in stores as well, or at least nothing shipped to them. I have a few friends that work in the buying dept there.
Selection varies markedly by store. I live in a “Costco rich” area with 5-6 locations within striking distance. The only similarity in their Omega offerings is that the prices are all in the 8k-10k range. Haven’t seen anything less expensive.
You can do better in most cases. But I always check them out when in store. Have never found anything that compelled me to buy.
Remember a year or so back when the Tintins were reportedly there? Wish I was one of those lucky few!
back? did they ever leave? Costco can keep selling gray market Omega watches at a discount without copyright liability...
Curious about this quote and why Kagan recused- Omega, in the first round of litigation, initially prevailed – both in the 9th Circuit and in the Supreme Court (which affirmed the 9th Circuit judgment in Omega’s favor by a 4-4 vote, with Justice Kagan recused)- maybe Kagan collects omegas or has stock in Costco now I have to find out. Seems like an odd case for a justice to recuse herself from. Edit- she wrote an amicus brief as an appellate judge on the case
Justice Kagan was Solicitor General before being appointed to. The Supreme Court. In that job, she represented the US Government's interests in the case. Since she had written briefs in the lower court cases, she had no choice but to recuse. gatorcpa
Why buy from Costco when I can pay full, no-negotiation retail at Hodinkee and get their "value add" ?
Well we don't have Costco where I live now, but I've been there couple times in other countries with relatives who were members.
Personally I prefer buying a watch directly from a fellow enthusiast. Like sitting at a table, face to face, and learning more about the history of what I'm buying, their memories with this watch, how it got this or that scuff, why they want to sell etc. It's so much more enjoyable to buy from an AD or a previous owner who loved their watch.
