Overall the LE has a much lighter feel too it and way more vintage. The 300 MC is large and robust in comparison, its heavier as well. The lumeplots are a lot deeper recessed on the MC a detail I enjoy. Bezel action is clickier on the LE and smoother on the MC. One thing that is al lot larger on the LE is the Naid Crown.

Any questions please let me know

Thanks RTK27. So lug-to-lug the LM is c.2mm larger while its diameter is 2mm smaller. All in, as you said more or less, 2 distant cousins. If I were you, I would sell the Rolex sub. When I look at the picture above, I can't help thinking that Omega has turned into being a lot more attractive and much more promising brand than Rolex over time.

I'm seriously considering flipping my 114060. Worn once in the past 3 months.

If you get the chance, check both before deciding.

The more I see the Seamaster 300, the more I want to switch my deposit over. The countdown bezel, the recessed lume, the perfect diver size, LITERALLY everything is 10/10. This is a huge problem because I only have funds for one watch this year, and it's already going towards the Speedy. Damn all you enablers!! ::facepalm1::

The only thing holding me back is the sapphire crystal. If it was acrylic like the original 300, I'd be all over it. For now, I think I'm set on the Speedmaster, but please continue to post pictures and let me live vicariously through you. 😁

List price. It's an AD.
What is the list price in the U.K.? I'm still in shock that they are reported to be the equivalent of $2000 cheaper than the USA price thanks to the exchange rate. That would be worth sending a nephew on a weekend trip there and back! Still come out $1000 ahead!

Jeez, the only thing I like more than one of these watches is the other one of them. I love so many features of both. Just an awesome design!

Seamaster 300 is £5200.
So, that's a savings of $400 to a Yankee purchaser...maybe a little more if you can endure the Kafka-esque VAT refund process at Heathrow. Not worth sending the nephew on an expedition...

Some sellers will discount the VAT as part of the purchase.

If you think about it, both watches are conceptually pretty similar - both are dive watches that are modern incarnations of the originals in their line, complete with modern attributes such as the movements and materials.

Perhaps one, or both, of these will complete your collection of iconic dive watches, solesman!

The LeCoultre deep sea reddition from the 1959 original is a great watch. A perfect (really perfect) reedition with a limited production (359). But maybe priced a bit too high when released in 2011 (9,500 EUR) because, after all, JLC deep sea's aficionados are not that many around the world. There are still a few opportunities to get them on the second-hand market below issue price.

The Blancpain Aqua Lung / Fifty Fathoms reddition are jokes imho. Thick, big, unelegant, with a date that is totally useless for a dive watch. I do not know what people will think of it in 20-30 years' time, but I have a serious doubt that it could rank among the must-have. And it is not cheap after all!
