When I was chatting with the Regent OB staff they said that Omega HQ released a few more Speedmasters to the world. Also, they had a few SM1948 models that they told me Omega HQ had sent them.
they have the 1948’s on the website too now...

Agreed. They are great watches, tastefully done, and accurate historically.

I was referring to the hype that these watches will be sold out very soon after introduction.

Just didn't expect that we can still purchase it 3 years later online 😀

I think it’s omega as a brand in general and the fact that most people don’t know about the historical significance of those watches. Imagine if Rolex releases some sort of trilogy reissue...

Rolex fanboy- “Check out the new Rolex trilogy release Sub!”
Regular joe- “How is this different than the current Sub?”
Rolex fanboy- “It has the word ‘Submariner’ in a different font and color!!”

It would be cool if Rolex reissue a 1016.
I never understood the hype over a different fond or color. But to be fair, I also never understood why people get obsessed with where the dot is in relation to the number 90 on a speedmaster bezel.

Diversion from the bigger existential questions and a temporary tamponade from facing the reality of an essentially meaningless existence.

Here’s a crazy idea, just an academic curiosity... is the 60th Speedy bezel replaceable with a black one for the 2998 look? 📖🤪😁

Probably, though I wouldn't put it past Omega to have done something with the design to prevent other bezels from being fitted. Then again, you might as well just go with a FOIS instead, and fit the dial & hands. Or keep the FOIS dial and fit a set of 3594 Replica hands.

FOIS case is much bigger and thicker relatively

Any info on where they might end up? I’m on the hunt for one brand new from an AD or boutique.

Yes. But if it doesn’t sell, maybe I’ll complete the trilogy one day.

May as well do it.

that speedy is quite possibly my fav modern (ironic) speedy. Its so different, for oblivious reasons, to every other speedy and has so much character and is the perfect size.

I thought I’d missed the rrp boat on this but then got the magic call from my amazing local omega boutique .

I strongly considered adding the seamaster, also incredible, quite shiny watches, bit of a silly comment by me, I like brushed more.

Not a big fan of shiny watches myself.
Main reason I bought the Seamaster and Speedmaster was their moderate sizes.
Railmaster just looks almost identical to Seamaster. Having a hard time justifying it.

First Omega purchase.

After lurking on the sub for so long, decided on buying the Railmaster!
In Asia, old stock of the RM + SM300 was replenished at my AD during the lockdown.
I was able to snag the RM at a discount 😁

More and more lately, I’ve been thinking the Seamaster 57 would be a good fit in my collection over the 300 MC.
