I agree. It is a bit early to talk about holding value. I'd say give it three to five years to see.

I actually wouldn't mind if the prices went down a little so I could pick up a RM and Speedy and complete the set...

I bought the Seamaster brand new as I wanted it a bit more than & thought it'd be less available on the secondary market than the Railmaster, so far doesn't seem to be the case but I love the thing to bits

Same with my Speedmaster and I've since see it below MSRP. No regrets though as it's a fantastic piece. I'd actually like to put the trilogy together eventually, but we'll see. Too many watches on the want list already and I would like to diversify a bit.

Some speedys seem be still be tricking through, I had a call last week from an OB offering me an unexpected delivery that’s available. Unfortunately already committed to ST#2 and can’t quite warrant another just yet.

The Spectre Seamaster comes in 7007 pieces. They still hold value really well. So I think the quantity isn't the real deciding factor.

Regarding the opinion that 3557 pieces of each model is too abundant for a "Limited Edition" (not agreeing or disagreeing), but how many pieces of a certain model are usually produced by Omega??

But that’s over a 5 year period. The 1957 LE’s had 3557 plus the boxed sets in like a year.

Lotta Bond fans out there buying things. Especially considering this one was featured in the movie, it's not super surprising, though 7k LE watches is quite a few to keep prices up. But they don't come up for sale

For me it's the 7000 pieces that surprises me. That and the fact you can get the standard version for a lot less which in my opinion is a better looking piece as I don't like the larger logo and the removal of the "12". And it's not like it was in Skyfall. :D

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the original trilogy back in 1957 sold for a piece? I remember reading it somewhere but can't seem to find it.

I had the speedmaster and sold it, I am kind of regretting that now. I am hoping prices fall back a bit but they look quite strong.

Perhaps a used one is cheaper

Speedmasters on the secondary market are in the $6500 range this week, which is a cool thousand bucks under retail and not a bad value IMO
