I presume the new Railmaster lacks the thick 1mm dial and magnetic shield of the 2914? As it now has an automatic movement 🤮, the replica watch is too thick to house the original anti-mag components.
What are you talking about? The entire movement is antimagnetic to >15k gauss.

I got an email from my boutique rep earlier this evening. I had not been online for about 1-1/2 hours. Her email indicated 100% deposit required, which I assumed was the boutiques' own requirement, since posts earlier in the day indicated ~25%. So of course I jumped back on OF, and immediately saw this appears to be the newest requirement. At noon today i would have thought about it, but now seeing the "trilogy' text on the dial I am learning more towards going for one of the LEs for now, and possibly picking up the other two later IF prices dip a little. Talk about a roller coaster!

The 100% requirement is a reach considering how their promised delivery times have really slipped at times. Free use of my money for 2 months is tolerable, but 6-10 months would not be.

I think that's a sensible approach, and basically my thinking as well. I went in for the Speedy for now. IF when they start hitting the secondary market the price drops, I'd eventually consider picking up the SM300. Just wish it didn't have a countdown bezel. Or maybe I'm thankful it doesn't, as it's made my decision a lot easier.

The extra text on the dial completely eliminates any desire to buy the set for me.

I didn't say it wasn't. It appears, on the inside, to be very different from the 2914. I could be incorrect of course but I presume it lacks these features of the original

As you can see, I'm partial to the original interpretation.

I got a similar email from my OB requesting 100% deposit on the $7250 price of the Speedy plus tax. I drove over to the store and put the money down. I learned that I was the second person to reserve through the South Coast Plaza boutique.

Watchadvisor is quoted as saying the Railmaster is 12.7mm thick. How thick is your vintage example?

The fact that it isn't a manual wind is a bigger deal to me, I'd be ordering one right now if it was.

One other point of information. This 60th anniversary Railmaster is two years late. The first Railmasters were introduced in 1955

My deposit is in for a Speedmaster. Was going to get the trilogy till I found out about the extra text on the dial. My OB said they already have three trilogy's reserved with full deposits.

I agree that enthusiasts are not going to like the extra jiberish on the trilogy dials

The "SWISS MADE" lettering on the 57' speedy is above the minute track and not below the minute track like the original 2915. Therefore not 100% the same as the original.

I have been in discussions with the Omega Boutique in Sydney about the Speedmaster this morning. They are taking names, but not deposits. Suggestion was that availability, which is currently unknown, will be first allocated to VIPs and then to anyone else. Price here is AU$9725.00, but not sure if that includes GST. Should do, as prices quoted in Australia must include GST, but it is possible that it slipped their mind.

I've been carrying this photo around on my iPad for ages (sorry, no idea where I stole it from), and think this commemoration model is so very close that I would dearly love to own one; however, I am hardly a VIP so doubt that will be a possibility:

Interestingly, the photo of the original does not show DON on the bezel, and others I have seen pictures of don't have this either.

I'll stick to the Speedy Tuesday. Great watches all around but didn't generate that 'I MUST HAVE IT' feeling which the ST had.

Correct. The caseback on these three replicas are incorrecty styled as well. Neither the 2915-1, 2913-1 or 2914-1 had a seamonster on the caseback. The monster came in later references. The original casebacks were mostly blank.

Is WIS-gasm a word? If so then that's what I had after I saw the Speedy this morning.

I have a very nicely patinated Ed White and never considered another Speedy apart from if an equal quality 2998 came to me (which is doubtful to happen) since 2915's were always way too far out of reach. This scratches that itch while giving me a modern watch that I don't feel like I need to baby.

Plus, @ChicagoFrog , @watchpatina , and I all cajoled each other (quite easily) to get one. It was funny calling the OB before they opened (and before @ChicagoFrog , which hopefully means I'll be getting a lower serial number than him) and them not having a clue what I was talking about at first - guess I was the first in Chicago to get them on the horn. I only had to put down 25%, the 100% deposit sounds ridiculous if they might not be coming until August.

Like @sgtpry , my GMT 1675 will be hitting the chopping block to make room for this guy. GLWS!

One random question from someone who's only bought vintage before -- in the US I heard we can avoid sales tax by shipping to an address out of state. Is that true? and something you can just tell the OB's to do?

Also ... any advice on how to tell my fiancee about another watch coming in before the wedding 🤔 ??

If the store you are purchasing from does not have a physical presence in the state they are shipping to, the store will often not collect sales tax.
