Pictures of Seamaster no.1916 from HK coming soon. Love everything about the watch, except the leather strap, which I find a tad too charcterless for my taste. To each his own etc.
Indeed. A small carton or wooden box with the papers, a leaflet and a suede pouch for travel, would have done perfectly. Having a large box turn out to be a negative factor, as it has to be kept in good shape to optimize resale and it takes a lot of room. I do not understand why they keep doing this. And I cannot even think of the tourist that ends up having to bring all this stuff back home.
Omega Boutique's and AD's are separate networks and are allotted a certain amount much like each country is. So if 500 Speedy's were shipped to the US market and split between the two then they both would have 250 among them. OB's could have sold all 250 of them, effectively meaning they are "sold out" even if they are still available at AD's. I don't think the information is "spotty" but rather some people may not understand the separation of the two.
I’ve considered that setup myself, but actually think the new bracelet style suits the SM300 the best. Looking at pictures of the 3 I thought SP and RM would become my favourites, but the SM300 is actually getting most time on the wrist. It depends on the attire. So far I wear the RM with black, SP with blue and SM300 with everything else
Info is “spotty” if some customers are hearing that a product is “sold out” when an OB in another city actually has pieces available. Indeed, if AD inventory is considered “sold out” by Omega when items are still in display cases, this is worse than spotty, it’s inaccurate. Saying that something is “sold out” indicates that an item can no longer be purchased at a normal point of sale. As early buyers, we want to hear that, but the meaning of “sold out” needs to be its traditional one, not your definition that all pieces are earmarked for retail outlets.
Gotta love the optimism of some people, asking $500-1000 over the full MSRP plus tax for watches which are still readily available at any Omega Boutique or AD. Railmaster MSRP is $6800, with tax total comes to around $7250-7300 in most states. Seamaster MSRP is $7000, with tax total comes to around $7500-7550 in most states. AD discounts of ~20% aren't unheard of, either. And the OB or AD will take a check or credit card
The only issue I see with the 57 style Rail master and see master is the master coaxial movement they have in them. Try to service those in 20 years from now. I love the speedmaster and can appreciate the 1861 movement they have put in it. That movement will be easily serviceable by anyone out side on omega. But not so much for the other 2. Of course this is just my opinion.
That sounds a little much. This forum is gonna get pretty boring if we can no longer share personal preferences. These aren’t babies, none of us should get insulted.
We call this a “joke” where I am from. Kidding. Humor. I’ll be much more serious in the future. Sorry.
