Omega 1944 30t2 cal HELP!

Hi all,

I have recently purchased an Omega 30t2 cal watch with military markings to the back.

I am slightly worried, whilst the rest of the case seems to be worn, the crown and back are in much better condition and seem to be of a higher quality finish than the rest.

Also the hands look like they are later.

The dial is certainly original and the movement serial numbers dating to 1944 (still keeping great time!)

Do you think all started life together? The back fits like a glove!

Cheers.

While the case might be original, the dial and hands are not original to this watch.

I certainly agree about the hands, what makes you think the dial isn't original?

I did not say the dial was not original, just that it was not original to this watch. If you search for images of the 68/159 you will find several examples with correct dials such as the example below:

Ah! Yes I'm with you now, they are strangely similar was it definitely the only dial they produced in 6b/159?

Also you're happy with the case being original, It's just I read they were always all stainless, surely the bezel and middle wouldn't pit like they have?

I would have to look at some reference books I have at home, but I believe this was the dial layout specified for the 6b/159 from this era.

As far as the case, here is a link to a thread that might shed some light on this issue:

Be great if you could look the dial up for me Joe thank you very much.

Correct! and I totally overlooked that in my initial analysis 🤔

As far as I know, the 6B/159 all had central seconds?

Thanks guys! Always learning! So probably they've had another dial put on of the period?

Horrible question but surely this must devalue significantly?
