So he told you some parts are no longer available, but not which parts?

Yes, so I decided, as part of the game, to search them by myself.
I am an Orthopedic Surgeon and watches are just my hobby...

So does your watchmaker have a parts account?

As far as I know he runs an "official service center"

Full respect to you - it's looking really good. Is the dial a NOS or an aftermarket replacement?

The dial is NOS, I don' t think that there are aftermarket dials around for a TV Dial, but you never know.

Bezel gasket and NOS crown

Based on the logo, it's likely just a new crown, so not NOS necessarily.

Flip it over and it will tell you week/year it was made on the label...

Is there a practical difference between new service crowns and period ones for this reference?

It depends what you mean by practical. As noted, the older crowns will have a different logo on them, but aside from that a newer crown is likely to have a seal that is in better condition than a truly NOS crown would...

Great thread. Kudos for having the patience to track down all of those parts. I probably would have run away screaming. 😉

Finally finished and perfectly working!
It took a little bit longer than presumed because of the Covid-19 pandemic

These TV Omega’s get little love but they are cool as hell- totally a tribute to the design risks Omega was taking at the time....unlike some other companies that just keep cranking out the Oyster.

Looks good. Out of interest, what original parts were retained?
