I just bought this Seamaster 2541.80.00, happy with the price I paid, verified the serial number dating the watch back to 1995, so all good there. It’s had a new battery recently and is apparently in good working condition. As you can see from the photo it’s in poor condition, that’s ok as I’ll have the case and strap polished and restored by the same guy who’s been repairing my watches for the last 10 years or so, I will also have it fully serviced.

I’m after opinions on a couple of issues, one is about the bezel, would it be worth having it replaced? If I do, I will only have an authentic bezel put on it, I’m seeing this watch as an opportunity to make a profit and then move on to another project, would replacing the bezel increase the possible resale value? The other thing is that it’s got no box or papers, would investing in a proper Omega box also increase the value?

I recently bought a 2255.80 seamaster that had some aftermarket parts. I ended up sending in to Omega for service and they serviced the watch and then replaced the other parts with original parts.
I had talked to other watchmakers but sending it to Omega made me feel more comfortable. I also think that getting the service papers proves the authenticity of the piece as well, whereas sending it to another watchmaker will not provide you with this.

Indeed, it is 2561.80, they are something like $1.5k max.
In the other thread I saw you posted a photo of ebay listing which showed 2541.80 watch for £2k. If you have bought it but received the mid-size watch it sounds like a good reason to cancel that transaction.

Thanks for the info guys, still happy with the price I paid, and still confident after it’s been tidied up I can make a profit.
