Yes, THEY were cut off, not watchmakers.

...as was Watchco AU and Cousins UK as far as I have seen. Ofrei is selling what they have left so when you see reports of people saying they got a part at Ofrei, it's not because they are still getting them from Omega, they had a stockpile and you may get lucky if you call.
Basically, there is no way for John Q Citizen to get new Omega parts (ebay is your best bet if someone happened to find your part in a retired watchmakers stash). I am assuming that if a watchmaker were known to be selling parts to consumers, they would have their parts account pulled as well. So I would gather your best bet is to find a watchmaker with a Swatch group account, and see if they can order the part you need and install it for you.

Ok, quite good to know this difference.
Anyway, it's a bit frustrating to have someone doing what you can do by your own !
Just hope that Ortope will succeed to finalize his project.

Some more parts that I will probably need to be replaced arrived today:

Just missing the crown and the seal that goes under the bezel and the restoration finally will begin.

Today all the parts will go to my watchmaker/restorer.
He usually has biblical waiting times, but I think it will be worth it.
In the meantime I found the right box for the watch. Many thanks to a forum member.

Just one question , if the plan is to let your watchmaker assembly the parts, why don't letting him source the parts from Omega also ?

    This was my amusement!
I dismantled and cleaned the watch and tried to gather all ruined parts.
By the way it seems that some parts are not longer available from Omega.

Sounds like a treasure hunt. I can see the that being a fun challenge....except when it gets frustrating.

Ok thanks for the reply, I understand.
Maybe for the next project you will try to do everything by your own ?

Sincerely I do not think to have the competence to rebuilt a movement like the 1045.
I found a big surprise today when I brought the movement parts to my watchmaker/restorer:

Is that the same case, or another one? If he just partially assembled the parts you gave him, did he/you find a replacement bezel gasket?

    It is the same case.
The gaskets and the crystal are oem new.
Indeed it was a little difficult to find them.

    looks good so far.

I'm now curious what original parts will be retained? It looks like very few original movement pieces will remain?

We will try to save as much original movement parts as possible, but with no compromises regarding the function of the watch.
It will be a complete overhaul, anyway.
