I totally agree with you Al, but it was a precaution from my side not knowing if the gasket would be still available. A used one is better than nothing anyway...
Al, I tried to find the gasket on the free market, but I didn't t find anything. Any idea where to find one? Thank you Adriano
Have you called watch material suppliers in your area? Have you looked on Ebay? Have you contacted local watchmakers?
i think the original dial would better preserve the history of this watch, but hats off to you to restore it to working status.
Yes, maybe my supplier/watchmaker will be able to find one. The problem is that Omega doesn't sell these parts to a private customer. eBay and Google no chance. Kind regards
No, but they sell to independent watchmakers, as I've already mentioned in the PM's you've sent me. No one said finding parts would be easy, in particular for a 40+ year old watch.
Sometimes you have to be lucky too: Found a German Date Disc at home: A remain of a Ref. 376.0822 Holy Grail restoration.
Slowly and gently, from all over the world, the few spare parts needed for the restoration project are arriving.
Here another surprise after talking away the watch's bezel. The problem is that the gasket is not longer available on the free market and probably it is only obtainable thru Omega (ref. 098EG0074) Does anyone know where to find a gasket likes this?

Cousin's doesn't have it, on eBay I didn't t find anything. My watch maker, who runs an official Omega Service Center will try to get one.
Someone told me that Omega is checking If their authorized service center aren't selling spare parts. Is it true?
Yes, unfortunately it is true. The Swatch Group apparently decided 2015 to stop the sale of original parts to independent watch makers. By the way, I found the missing gasket that I was looking for: 098EG0074 (Ofrei)
This is not true. Omega didn't cut off watchmakers who were buying parts from them directly. They stopped selling parts to third party distributors of parts. Swatch continues to sell parts to independent watchmakers directly.
