hi everyone

Was able to get a few Zenith time pieces recently ...

Here is a Sterling silver pocket watch with chronometre movement 5011k w moonphase ....

The watch came without display case . I had this wooden box for another watch opening is slightly too big but will make a proper interior pad and see what I can do ... the odd rounded shape over the zenith logo is just a reflection .... I love the dial !

And the business end of this pocket is nothing but stellar !

Bill,
Great buy; great watch: why the modesty?

Two questions which have come up with my 5011k now being service by Zenith:
• The "Power Reserve" Indicator
All the other watch power reserve indicators I have seen, including those produced by Zenith, show a “reserve power” defined as the number of hours remaining for running. For example, 36 = 36 hours reserve remaining, 12 = 12 hours reserve remaining, 0 = no reserve.
For my caliber 5011k, the "power reserve" indicator shows the number of hours it has run for 48 hours assuming a fully wound starting point of zero, for example, 36 = 12 hours reserve remaining, 12 = 36 hours remaining, 0 = 48 hours remaining.
I am very well acquainted with Zenith’s technical literature. This "reverse power reserve indicator from a base of 48 hours” system appears to be unique to the Zenith 5011k and is obviously very confusing - no doubt the reason why no other manufacture, including Zenith, has used this reverse power reserve indicator, in any other watch or caliber, before or since. I have also not seen it explained in any Zenith technical or marketing literature.
Please confirm that this is the same with your 5011k.

• Hacking Mechanism
The “hacking mechanism” which permits the second hand to be stopped independently to synchronize the time with a very clear description of how it should work for the 5011k is provided on page 268 of Zenith’s newly-published 150th Anniversary Book.
Please confirm that your 5011k's hacking mechanism is functional.

For everyone's reference, have attached some reference photos of other 5011k's from the web.

Hi @carroll213

I will check the power reserve when I get home but I think its the same as yours..

I do not have the 150th anniversary Zenith book... sad day for me....

Hacking on the pocket I do not think its possible.,.. As you need a nail head control as you have in the box chronometre version . When I get home I will post pics of it...

Hi

How is the 150th Zenith book ?

Hi @carroll213

Here are pics of the Marine chronometre ( really deck watch in my opinion) with the 5011k.

See the push button by the 7 o'clock position on the side of the case in the second pic ? That is the hacking device.

Good hunting

Bill,
1. Please confirm that the "Power Reserve" on your 5011k PW functions in the same reverse fashion as described above.
2. Please confirm that your 5011K PW does not have a hacking mechanism.
3. Re. the 150th Anniversary Zenith book, yes, it is very much worth while having as a complement to - and only if you already have - Rošsler... what it lacks in Rošsler's technical detail, it makes up with some really beautiful pictures: the two work very well together, and at $100/book on Amazon or eBay, why not?

Hi

Sorry I thought I mentioned that...

Yes the power reserve is the same across the pocket and the marine chronometre.

As I described the hacking mech would have to be a physical pusher that is not present on the pocket watch. To be clear, my pocket watch does not hack.

Will check Amazon about the book , thanks
