Decided to shoot the lock off the wallet and get myself a 214270 mk 1.

always liked this watch and the explorer is just a fun piece that is probably the only watch left in Rolex’s line up that still looks very similar to the old ones.

Nice man, nice pictures! I still don't have a Rolex in my collection, never had one. I have a few on the like list... Probably look at the Yachtmaster Rhodium as my first, one day. We shall see....

I guess the explorer is one of the least pretentious ones

If I was shopping for a modern Rolex, this is the one that I would be purchasing. Good choice.

Haha, I had one of those with the stunted hands also. Never really bonded with it, and fortunately made a good decision to trade it before the prices plummeted.

TBH, I really wish I had kept my 36mm 114270 Explorer, it had really nice proportions.

Very nice. I really like the Explorer but currently have my heart set on a 5 digit Sub as my only Rolex. Too bad it’s not in the cards for me right now as the prices have come down currently.

I can understand that, I had a vintage OP but was getting over the 34 mm size. Ended up trading in.

These are just perfect. Much prefer this bracelet to the newer ones and and the movement is battle tested.

The 36 is out of style now if you have larger wrists. In the modern day size does matter u fortunately

Time to go bigger.
Fashion has changed. What was once acceptable is now not really. Watches unfortunately got bigger and we see some monstrosities, but all in all most brands are staying tasteful about it.

34mm and 36mm on a large wrist used to be the norm. That has changed not just for men but ladies also. We see ladies now wearing 34mm all the way to a panerai.
