Oh - I have been seaching...

Bill - you have been one of my favourites until now...;)

    Congrats!(he said bitterly)

One day I will find a chronometre Universal.

Have you checked the movement? They are said to be numbered - not named "chronometre" and such but with an extra number.

    Hi @styggpyggeno1

The "they said...". I think that was me and actually is that the movement will have a unique serial number and the "UNADJUSTED " will be missing from the signature of 17 jewels and UG name.

Oh I have not yet opened the case ... mystery till tonight

    Good hunting

It will be interesting to see that dial, is it all crystal scratches, Bill?

    Hi @Dre

No it won't be like that at all since it's a bumper chronometre grade of caliber 138SS .

    Good hunting

    Hi everyone

@JimInOz , sorry got home late and had to find a key to open the caseback ...

    As predicted it's a bumper 138SS.
It's a early chronometre as it's has a movement serial number and the absence of " UNADJUSTED" by the signature plate on the movement , only marked "17 jewels Swiss universal geneve 138SS" .

Here is the money shot !

I think I need to be jealous and celebratory at the same time. What's special about this watch? Why rare? Cheers.

    Hi Larry

To find a chronometre Polerouter is very uncommon . This is a early bumper Polerouter example .

I still have so much to learn. I didn't even know these existed.

Looking at the dial I am astonished to see that the cross hairs stop for AUTOMATIC and UNIVERSAL GENEVE but will go through CHRONOMÈTRE and POLEROUTER.

Congratulations on the find. Beautiful watch.
