    HI EVERYONE

To say this is uncommon is an understatement I might actually say "rare" and I am not ordering a steak.

Only Downside it's 18 k Swiss case gold version so it's a SnapBack . Upside is pink gold !

And look closely at dial and movement and you will find a real treat !

    Bill -

Forgot to send you this, so I will just post it here.

Looks like your watch dates from around 1951. Never seen one like it before and probably won’t see one again.

    Nice!

Movement is numbered, which *I think* is unique to chronometers

Keeping this as highbrow as I can and using only acknowledged horological terms, may I just say: dem lugs, dose!

    Hi Lou

That is what I have observed over the years at lest with Polerouter chronometres... plus on the 138ss typically marked " Unadjusted" the chronometre movements do not have such marking , plus it has a movement serial number.

Many manufacturers stopped using individual serial numbers on movements by the early 1950’s.

UG was one of those manufacturers, with watch identification made via a case serial number instead.

However, COSC only tested uncased movements. There would have been a need for a separate movement serial number so that the COSC could record which movements passed the test and which did not.

I have not seen this in any article or other publication, but it makes sense.

On the issue of "Chronometres" I don't understand how the term can be used when the movement isn't marked "Adjusted 5 positions".

I’m not aware of any requirements for adjustments or positions in order to have passed the chronometer tests back then.

If the movement met the objective criteria for timekeeping, it passed.

Yup. And to expand on this, you would never have seen such markings on the movements that were submitted for actual Observatory competitions. They were simply added to most movements cased for sale for marketing purposes.

    Hi Moahunter

As @gatorcpa mentioned no requirment for movement to be signed adj 5 pos etc... you can see multiple examples of 30T2Rg movement that do not have it.

    Good Hunting
