Observations on the Seamaster Pro Ceramic and Titanium

I finally picked one of these up. I agree with others that it doesn't seem overly large on the wrist and very light. I had to measure it myself to be sure it was actually 43.5mm. I actually like the pin buckle, which has a distinctive shape and is very well executed in black ceramic. Mine has the same slight misalignment of the case back lettering that is identical to what the OP had before they got it corrected. It doesn't bother me much, but I can see how it could.

Initially, my major concern was that the caseback was not properly locked into place, and therefore could possibly leak. After worrying about it for a couple of weeks I finally decided to bring it back to the Boutique and the service center. Once it was finally confirmed that it was simply misaligned text I opted to get it fixed since it was already there. If I knew then that it would take 20 weeks I would have decided to live with it!

Your review is spot-on! I received mine yesterday and it's absolutely gorgeous! My wife said "it's stunning and classy" (she's never said that about me!). I have small wrists and 43.5 is no problem. I also have a Planet Ocean 600 (black/orange rubber strap - 43.5MM) and a Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT (white face - 44MM). Perhaps due to the white face, the Aqua Terra seems much larger on the wrist (still looks great - pre-owned, mint, great deal). If you already wear watches with the same/close to same thickness, you will feel right at home with it. I have to say that this new ceramic/titanium may be my favorite watch in my collection. While I'm not a huge Rolex fan, I do find some of the Submariners very attractive. However, seeing this watch next to a similar Submariner, I have to say the Omega grabs my eye more. I wear my watches for me, not for someone who will check out my watch and judge me. (I was wearing my Planet Ocean in NYC, and a young guy, maybe 20, walks by and says "nice Planet Ocean" - if he noticed it at 20, he better marry someone who understands his watch passion!)

I prefer leather or rubber straps over bracelets (I may be in the minority). What I like about Omega's non-bracelet straps is that they are designed to "bend" down towards the wrist as soon as they leave the lugs, cradling the wrist nicely - some other company's have rubber straps that seem to go away from the wrist, almost forcing you to wrap it around, leaving a bit of a gap between the strap (at the lugs) and the wrist. Those are not as comfortable as the Omega straps. While I like the deployant straps, the buckle is only an issue when you put it on - it wears very nicely, and the buckle is gorgeous (I don't think I say that too often about buckles).

The ceramic/titanium certainly make it lighter, but don't be fooled by the lighter weight - it's a solid time piece.

Of course, I'm working from home due to COVID-19, but it does make my T-Shirt and sweats look more sophisticated.

Stay well during this unprecedented time.

A picture is always welcome! Congrats on the purchase — it’s a great watch. It’s hard to let my other watches back into rotation

Since I'm in the US and pretty much quarantined, I have been wearing my Apple watch most of the time (I use it at home to turn on outside lights for the dogs, run my Sonos system, etc). Yesterday, I wore this Seamaster for most of the day and have to say it is incredibly comfortable on my small wrist. Good choice!

Both the cordura and DSOTM straps look great. The DSOTM gives a great contrast, but I think the cordura would just nudge it for me as I kind of like a small lug gap.

In fact, I’m waiting on delivery of the blue cordura for my blue dialled SMPc for just that same reason. Can’t beat a deployant

What I love about this watch is the retro look. Takes me back to my childhood in the 80’s. Knight Rider, Airwolf, Street Hawk and of course the classic Arcade. Don't they look great together?

Would be interested to know if anyone has this model and the new Bond Omega, how do the both compare and which one would you have if only one?

Lastly how durable is the ceramic over a normal steel variant? I tried on the Speedy Apollo 8 before Xmas and loved the case finish (imagine this is similar) but unsure on everyday wear.

Thanks

I definitely agree that a deployant would have been preferable to the pin buckle. On one hand, this strap with the pin buckle does feel a bit more comfortable than my PO with the rubber strap and deployant. On the other hand, the deployant would make having a ceramic watch a bit less nerve wracking.

I’ve doodled a couple of options that I’m considering based on existing Omega straps.

First, the brown leather from the vintage DSOTM

Then the cordura from the DSOTM

Any thoughts on these? Other candidates?

UGHHHH theses are clean.

Just called my AD. They said any 21MM DSOTM strap will fit.

I really like it on the brown strap. Here’s mine on a bad and lokes leather.

Which model of strap is that? Did they offer a 21mm version or was it custom made? Looks great!

Bas and lokes “bryce”. They’re made to order so you pick the width, taper and length you need. Very nice and highly recommend. Pricey, 160 USD. Takes about a month though. They’re based in Australia.

Late to the party I purchased mine yesterday, a really very, very beautiful watch and the perfect companion to my Speedmasters
