Dive watches are always pin buckle. ( as that way you can wear under it over wetsuit )But that’s just thinking true dive watch aesthetics’s

I think that’s a point well taken! Certainly on my wrist there is plenty of adjustment length left to accommodate a wetsuit. I would also say that the pin buckle here is exceptionally well done - polished black ceramic with Omega logo engraved and brushed sides to complement the case. No desk diving scratches here!

Still, it would be nice to have an alternative with a deployant for those of us landlubbers.

Ugh. I love this watch. Favorite Seamaster they've done since the 300 from 2016.

I love this watch, too. The cordura strap is a great match for it. I do wish the movement supported the jumping hour feature, though. And a deployant would be far less fussy. I found the rubber strap & buckle to be a challenge to get off.

Updating the post with a lume shot. Unfortunately the sensor in my phone doesn’t register the color difference between the blue and green (on the pip and minute hand) lume shades as well as the eye can. Quite a nice display.

The lume is quite bright on this model and the contrasting colors really stand out. This is the best pic I could get showing the green minute hand and pip vs blue on the hour hand, markers, and second hand.

I doubt very much that many of these watches will actually ever be worn over a wetsuit, so I was thinking about the other 99.99% of owners.

Any chance of someone posting a picture of how does the pin buckle look like?

I definitely agree that a deployant would have been preferable to the pin buckle. On one hand, this strap with the pin buckle does feel a bit more comfortable than my PO with the rubber strap and deployant. On the other hand, the deployant would make having a ceramic watch a bit less nerve wracking.

I’ve doodled a couple of options that I’m considering based on existing Omega straps.

First, the brown leather from the vintage DSOTM

Then the cordura from the DSOTM

Any thoughts on these? Other candidates?
Can you doodle on some 2254 sword hands?
For me, those would make this watch nearly perfect- or at least a suitable heir to the 2254.50.

Omega says buckle is ceramic with polished surface and brushed sides. Looks great!

Great watch and it looks amazing IRL. What I wasn't expecting when I saw it in store is the dial is actually grey. Don't know why but thought it was black...really well done. The steel versions are shiny and can be worn up or down while this is strictly a sporty piece. One thing that has bugged me on these new SMPs is the white numerals on the bezel look off to me in white while on this one it fits perfectly.

This is a great post. I am currently comparing the steel (black) version to this is Pro with the price difference being the issue I was struggling to justify. A few people have mentioned that ceramic can shatter, any views on this being a concern to wear the watch as a daily?

I'm sooo close to buying this watch , Seen one in the flesh today in York England , but family dragged me away from the shop window and I was unable to try it on , I have 7" wrists , would this be too big for me ? It didn't look too big from the view I had through the shop window .
Anyway great review and beautiful pictures , thanks for sharing .

I don’t think it would. I have just over 7 inch wrist and I wear the Apollo 8 which is larger with no issue. The black case and lugs really make these ceramic watches wear smaller than you would imagine. That said, best to try on as it more about wrist shape than size....

Yes good point , I have flat elongated shaped wrists, not round at all lol
I really need to try it on , especially if I end up ordering it online .

Always been obsessed with this one. Best seamaster I think. Call me crazy but I compare it to bulgari Octo ceramic. Would be cool to have a matching bracelet! Thanks for the great writeup!

I’d rather they do away with the Helium escape mechanism first, or at least reduce its footprint.

Like it or not, the HE valve is part of the Seamaster 300M identity now. There’s probably as much likelihood for removing it as removing the Omega logo from the dial.

Yes I understand Omega’s obligatory tribute to this vestigial feature.

I was responding to the comment about 99% of people not needing to wear the watch over a wetsuit, so how many will need the he valve? .0000099%?
