By setting up an Instagram account the way he did, you put yourself on the map as a guy who owns about $2M in watches. He probably used the same username or left clues of his whereabouts on other social media websites. The point is that he became a worthwhile target and most likely got the attention of a professional thief who decided to do some digging. Could be also something as simple as a geotag.

Remember to update your insurance folks, no excuse for that.

I would have insured them for travel and rolled into a policy in New Zealand. Maybe I'm paranoid.
