Hey do people try to scam forum members on Omega forums, is it a thing?

So I have a couple wanted adds for watch parts and got this private message today.

The thing that seems off is the member is new with zero posts zero likes. See screenshot below.

So is my instincts right?

Thanks for the help.

He obviously has a lot of friends.

Just be careful when making a WTB post online.

Let me be the one breaking the bad news here, no forum is safe from scammers.

Just seems like a lot of time and effort to just get someone’s email address.
They're not trying to get your email address. Once you email them, they will put a watch-deal together with you, take your money and not send a watch!

I had this same person PM me for a WTB ad.

It’s an obvious scam when you see it’s the person’s second post on the forum and they just joined.

Yeah, I got him too. I reported him (as well as a few others that I got recently), but this is the only one that seemingly is still around 😁

Another problem: he took the email address of a stranger he wants to annoy, and now that person is happy that it's circulating online and is getting a lot of emails. Can't OF (via AI) just generally hide email addresses?

A friend of mine, who happens to be a Nigerian prince, will solve the problem if we pay him $50,000 U.S. so he can pay the ransom on his programmer who is being held hostage by pirates in Khartoum.

Banned, thank you for reporting it, any time you see one of these hit and run guys giving you an email to contact it’s because they know they’re about to be banned and won’t be able to close the deal.

best is to use the 3 dots to report this user:

I did that with that one about 14 hours ago 😀 I can't imagine what keeping up with the report queue is like these days 🙁

I don't understand how someone could wake up in the morning knowing that they are a scammer... it's a shame.

Show a show on it, sadly you usually start out if need, in a bad place in your life. Not always but a lot of them. They don’t feel bad cause they think they are just providing for their families and since others have more than them they don’t feel bad. Not right of course.
