Omega's rule is to have you submit a photo of yourself wearing the watch?? Incredible! Next they'll say they need a DNA swab lol
That is what they told me. I first sent a wrist shot and was then told they wanted a picture of me actually wearing it. Didn’t bother me at all, I’m just glad to have this watch. Besides, I voluntarily post pictures in WRUW, what more to send one to the AD?

I wore it all last week and it’s very nice on the wrist.

Well, at least you got what you wanted. Singapore OB doesn't even give this option.

So far nothing from the CEO nor anything further from the OB regarding the matter. I contacted him well over a week ago.

This is unfortunate. Not what I wanted to hear.

The other day I was having an issue with a large Home Store (similar to Home Depot) were I ordered a refrigerator. After two notifications they would deliver, then adding a dishwasher to my order (I did not order it), having two separate stores call and cancel my order, and after 3 days of dealing with this I finally got fed up and wrote the CEO via email. This CEO just took over a few months back and talked about cleaning house, so I messaged him to tell him my frustration with the process (I mentioned the staff were good, just their tools sucked) and within 3 hours of sending the email I had a call from his staff. His staff had also called the store prior to calling me to check on everything to make sure the delivery was going to occur on time. My email subject line: please clean house, customer experience vs HD

I recently emailed Mr Aeschilmann again reiterating my dissatisfaction and requesting remediation. Nothing further from Chicago OB either... Paying full retail price (north of $7K USD here in the US) while not disclosing damage and missing components to its customers doesn’t seem to warrant a response from his office.

Did you try emailing the Omega Speedy Tuesday email that was listed in the reservation confirmation? Arthur was pretty responsive when I used that email.

What outcome are you hoping for?
What I and anyone else who purchased a brand new watch at a brand new price from a brand’s watch store should have received to begin with:
A complete set without damage and missing components and no lame excuses as to why this didn’t happen.

Oops. Yeah that is a realistic resolution.

I think they could also do much much more to realize they messed up.

This isn't a resolution. I get your frustration. I do. But what possible solution will you be happy with? I'm asking in earnest.
Nothing less than properly replacing the damaged box and providing the missing plastic case/tags. If not possible, then properly compensating for having me pay full price.

Understandably mistakes happen but if the manufacturer/OB doesn’t accept accountability then it won’t be long before those “mistakes” will become par for course. It seems like we’re already going that direction as some OBs are now calling it their “policy” to not provide the entire ST2 set.

I edited my original post, by the way. Yes, getting you a replacement set makes sense.

I figure they can get a replacement box, but just wonder if they would consider fabricating new hang tags.

Hope it all works out.

When I picked mine up today the OB had unboxed it and taken the front and back protective stickers off. The coffin was gone, and the hangtag was on the counter. But after I had a good look at the watch and tried it on, they boxed it all back up for me (including putting the main box back in the cardboard box). The coffin was gone (no biggie, I have others and did not ask for one) and the protective stickers were gone, but I really don't need the one for the crystal and I have another I can put on the back to minimize rubbing from the Nato. All-in-all, I think the OB did well by making sure my watch was okay and all of the paperwork, etc. was present. In my opinion that is their job, and I am happy to let them make sure all is well.

This kind of thing makes me crazy! The watch companies sometimes act like they are selling some kind of top secret piece of equipment to solve world peace, it's a watch for god sakes! Once I pay for it, I expect to receive everything that it comes with in undamaged condition. Once it is mine, I can do whatever I wish with it.

I dunno, the tiny OB I go to in a crappy mall (seriously, I have to walk past a Hot Topic to get to it. In 2018!) is 3/3 in presenting me the watch in its coffin and the box in its outer shipping box, for me to open for the first time. They fill out the warranty cards as I'm checking out, and have always complied with my request to hang onto the coffin, hangtag, and barcode stickers.
I personally feel like that's the way to go for a delivered watch.

I know this boutique has delivered more than a handful of #ST2s. They started about 4 weeks ago. The manager indicated they had received 2 shipments so far, are were still waiting for more. I was the 2nd person to pick one up yesterday. I guess their primary clientele wants to see the watch when they arrive, not watch the boutique people go through the unboxing. They actually unboxed it in the back, and brought the watch out on a padded tray, along with the fancy box.

I honestly don't know what value the sticker with barcode would add, as I have the full paperwork including order confirmation and receipts, and coffins are generic. I think provenance is well-established, so when my son goes to sell it in 50 years it will be difficult for anyone to argue it is not real.

On this occasion I find myself wondering about all of the angst about packaging.

On one had I totally agree with Rasputin. The damaged packaging is a biggie and it needs sorting out.

On the other I’m looking at the bloody great big box that mine came in and thinking “where the f*** do I store this thing?” and I’m kind of glad that I don’t have to worry about the transport coffin even though it’s small. I’ve way too many watch boxes already and anything that minimises the space they occupy is welcomed.

As Black Talon says I’ve got all the paperwork, the emailed confirmation, screenshots from the Omega website of when ordered etc. Provenance is well proven.

I again contacted the Chicago OB requesting an update on the matter. They informed me they've ordered an outer box to be sent from Switzerland. No timeline on this and no further discussion regarding plastic shell/tags.

Rasputin, my only experience at an Omega boutique is with the one on Martin Place in Sydney, Australia. I was recently on vacation there from the US. My hotel happened to be steps away from the OB. (I think my wife thinks I planned that. Maybe I did.) Anyway, I decided to go in and buy a Speedmaster with Moonphase. I didn't ask for, and they didn't offer, the price tag, or this coffin box people are referring to. I got everything else, undamaged. My watch came out of the display case. Not sure if that's normal or not. I didn't care. It was pristine. And I felt good about the fact that the door is locked and you can only get in if a guard lets you in. To me, this means their display watches probably don't leave their display pedestals too much.

I didn't (and I think I still don't) care about the price tag or the coffin box, but now that I've seen this post I would probably ask for both in the future.

Good luck. You should definitely get what you had agreed to. It's not too much to ask. Enjoy your watch!

Also, I was informed that it’s company policy to not provide customers with the plastic shell and hang tags and thus these items were sent back to corporate. Therefore I won’t be provided these items. Yet I’ve seen others who purchased the ST2 actually receive the plastic shell and tags.

This is correct. As per company policy, the retailers and boutiques are supposed not to include the (not nice) plastic shell nor the cardboard used for the initial shipping of the watch from the mother ship. If some retailers or OB's decide to leave the package "as it comes" with the customers, they do it against corporate rules. 😉
