Not pleased with Chicago OB’s delivery of ST2

I bought my Moonwatch in London from an independent AD. He brought out a handful of watches, one in a coffin. He said that was mine & I could keep the coffin "which most people never see, nevermind actually get". The others were interesting pieces from his collection that he thought I'd like to see - a '67 Ed White & several others.
On leaving I left with the watch on my wrist & a North Face bag containing the Moonwatch box in its brown outer box, the coffin & the tag.
He never mentioned the tag, just gave it to me, but he did say that most places don't show the coffins to the customers as they're not exactly aesthetically pleasing.

the OB where I took delivery of my ST2 (Orange County, USA) didn’t touch the box upon arrival, they wanted me to experience opening it directly from the homeland. Walked out with my coffin, hang tag, and the outermost cardboard box like Omega had shipped it directly to my door.

I had been going almost weekly during the ~8 months I spent saving for a new piece, asking 1,000,000 questions and ending with comments like “one day I’ll be back for my moonwatch”. I think when the clouds parted and it became a reality they knew I would greatly appreciate seeing every item.

Glad Chicago got you a new box!

I recently had my ST2 delivered to me from the Chicago OB. Prior to delivery, I asked their manager to include all it’s packaging material including boxes and papers which I was assured he’d include. Upon receiving the watch, I noticed the outer Omega box had damage to it and the watch was missing its plastic packing shell and hang tag.

After inquiring about these issues, I was informed that the box came damaged from Switzerland and that instead of delaying my receipt of the watch the OB decided to ship it to me anyway. The OB told me they informed the corporate office regarding the box damage but are unable to give me a timeline regarding resolution of the matter. I’m rather upset that the damage wasn’t disclosed prior to selling the watch to me.

Also, I was informed that it’s company policy to not provide customers with the plastic shell and hang tags and thus these items were sent back to corporate. Therefore I won’t be provided these items. Yet I’ve seen others who purchased the ST2 actually receive the plastic shell and tags.

Although I like the watch, I don’t know what recourse to take aside from indefinitely waiting for the OB to inform me of any resolution. Has anyone experienced something similar and do you have any suggestions?

All depends on your relationship with the dealer. I always get everything including the cardboard box they received it in lol

1in 10 men buying don't even want the box and walk out the store watch only.
( Airport boutiques it is a lot more like 3 in 10 )

I think I will have to hang around the airport boutique when I am on a trip. I'll take free cases / boxes! With no watch in hand, I have no customs worries.
