After a few weeks of anxious waiting and transport across the oceans, I have just received this:

An incredibly nice Mido Multi-Centerchrono! Not too much knowledge is available about these, I've found (naturally, most of it was on OF...), but after seeing @MMMD and @Mick Tock's examples (as well as other's!) on Omega Forums, I've been aware of their existence and if a decent example surfaced at a reasonable price, I was pretty sure I could strike. A month or so ago, that opportunity arose :)

Thanks to the ever awesome @Andy K I now have this in Denmark - really appreciate all the help he's given me! Thanks also to @Tony C. who confirmed that I wasn't buying a complete stinker...

I'll point to the fantastic thread by Mick Tock for additional info and enabling and to the Vintage Mido Watches? thread for even more great content.

This catch also serves as a reminder of how important knowledge and a tiny bit of courage is in this hobby. These are some of the photos from the listing:

Here are a few more photos - notice that case and dial condition... ::love::

( - @w154 - have a look at that crystal. If you haven't found a replacement yet, I'm guessing that this one is original to the watch)

There are two issues with the watch, however. One is a broken mainspring (probably why this hasn't seen more use...) and the other is the painted main hands. I have seen this done a fair few times on vintage watches and it makes the hands stand out better on the bright dial. A shame that it covers (probably) perfectly preserved radium filled, blued steel hands! Naturally, this will be looked at :)

By the way, that strap is from Fluco, which @Syrte has recommended - I will definitely pick up one or two more of these!

These are so nice, and yours seems to have a spectacular case and dial so a big thumbs up from me too

And thanks for remembering the crystal question (that even I'd forgotten about) !

I never actually had a multi-centrechrono, rather I have an unusual chrono from the same period that has a case and pushers very similar in style to the Mido, and I was trying to figure out what profile crystal I should put on it when it was repaired. It's all done now though, and I just let the watchmaker choose something he thought was suitable. Thanks anyway though !

Not surprised you are extremely pleased as that is a beauty, congratulations and enjoy.
Quick question though, which fluco strap is that? It works very well with the watch.

The only thing that could have been an improvement would be a tapered design.

Too cool! I love the little fluted details on the pushers. A bit of courage, but a LOT of knowledge goes a long long way. Congrats again.

This is just stunning. Overhaul and hand clean up is well worth the investment. Nice catch.

Thanks for all the kind comments :)

I'm really happy to have caught this one and hope that a good service will have it running again before too long.
I got the back off a few minutes ago and found no trace at all from previous work - which is both good and bad, as we know :D

Does someone know anything about Mido serial numbers? The only ones I can find are "4521" on the case, does that correlate to a specific year of productions? I couldn't find any markings on the movement (granted, the light was horrendous...). Hope someone can bring some insight.

    Beautiful, congrats!!
Glad to have contributed if only to the strap.
I just bought one of their suede ones and it’s great quality and value— and tapered.

If there are four digits between the lugs, then I think they might just match the last four digits of the case number that you'd find on the inside of the caseback. Is that true on yours ?
