Not pleased with Chicago OB’s delivery of ST2

This is correct. As per company policy, the retailers and boutiques are supposed not to include the (not nice) plastic shell nor the cardboard used for the initial shipping of the watch from the mother ship. If some retailers or OB's decide to leave the package "as it comes" with the customers, they do it against corporate rules. 😉
Do you know why it’s company policy to not include the shell? What about the hang tag?

It does not matter what the Singapore OB does, it is not true.

USA OB would not release hang tag, outer brown box nor plastic coffin. It’s corporate policy they said.

Because it's only used to ship the watch to the retailer, it also bears all the internal barcodes and numbers that aren't of any utility to the customer I suppose...

I do not work for Omega, don't know exactly what that policy consists of. I only remember what my AD told me about the very strict rules about how do they get the watch and how it's supposed to be delivered to the customer.

Finally, however practical for storage that shell is everything but nice.

I can fully understand the thought of good, consistent process to deliver a good customer experience. I imagine the majority of customers couldn’t give a jot about the plastic coffin or the outer shipping box so you can see why the policy exists.

It goes awry when you deal with WIS and some dealers are offering everything and some are not.

My ST1 was brought out to me in all the shipping boxes. It was opened in front of me and I was asked if I wanted it all. My ST2 came from a different AD and was presented in the inner box but with all stickers still intact. No coffin or outer shipping box was available. They said they didn’t have it anymore after looking through the back. They did give me a Service Case to keep the watch in though.

I suppose in this world of trying to do the right thing for the planet offering all the packaging to the end customer could reduce the waste output from the dealer😀

My ST2 cardboard box and contents were brought out to me first and opened, then they went to retrieve the coffin/watch/tag separately and open in front of me, a nice experience.

No issue with keeping all packaging, coffin (which has the limited edition number sticker on it), tag and included a service case to transport the watch home in my wife's handbag. Certainly recommend the London Regent Street store, only thing missing was champagne!

For what it's worth: I've read many stories about people not getting the blister pack and hang tag because of "Omegas policy", but I think it comes down to preventing people from reselling the watch. But this depends on the boutique manager and it's not Omega policy. I collected my ST2 at Old Bond Street in London and received every single piece of plastic crap that I requested them to give me (e-mailed them prior to collecting my ST2). It's weird they ignored it. If it helps: the friendly boutique member dropped the complete box from the counter when trying to get in the paper bag. Luckily nothing was damaged (except his ego).

I hope your watch is on your hand and not inside the box when he dropped the box.

I wonder if this might be a common problem with new omega I purchased my speed master moonwatch set from a well known uk dealer
Only to find on delivery the instruction manual missing it was replaced but
Shouldn’t really happen on premium brand like this
But still feel lucky to own one

It was in the blister pack, not in the box fortunately. These things can happen and he immediately started inspecting the box. If looks could kill...

The warranty cards, price tag and the watch itself are transported in a blister pack. This comes inside a bigger box with the warranty manual and sometimes additional flyers. So there's no quality control in the packaging process at Omega I guess. The AD has to put it all together after he receives the two seperate boxes. The Omega warranty booklets are all the same nowadays so your replacement is most likely the same as the one that should have come with the package. I'm surprised you noticed!

I received my ST Ultraman recently.
No coffin box and hangtag was given, OB mentioned those are not part of the standard items to be given out to retail customers.
Their policy is to remove it.

My local OB told me exactly the same when I picked up my new Diver 300M. However I was able to convince the saleswoman to give me the coffin but she insisted that I cannot get the hangtag. Definitely there are inconsistency around this policy.

Watches get shipped seperate to all other stuff as the watches go to a bonded store before being delivered.

1 medium box of watches

Might be a pallet or two of boxes and packaging ( which doesn't need to be bonded )

Usually sent in just coffin boxes
Think sent like this as the three are linked by the LE #

You are indeed lucky, a lot of us would need to live with the imperfection within the complete set and not be able to get the fullest set out of the penny.

Am not sure if what they are doing is intentional to deter flipping of the watch, but for the true collector, it is indeed considered “incomplete” and frustrating.

As mentioned before in another thread.

Speaking to the CEO of Omega in Aus, it's mostly only us nutters that want this stuff.

1in 10 men buying don't even want the box and walk out the store watch only.
( Airport boutiques it is a lot more like 3 in 10 )

Here in my country you can take the hang tag, plastic delivery box and even the brown outer box. What the sales person said if no ask they just throw it away in a bin.

Do you get the hang tag, the delivery box and the outer box if you go to an AD in Switzerland?
