During the summer I'll go through long stretches where I won't wear a watch at all. Once school starts up though I'll wear one daily, a watch is a necessity for me at work. My classroom doesn't have a clock and being able to check the time keeps my on schedule, I have a bad habit of getting side tracked during lectures.

I wear a watch every day, for most of the day. Always have done. Can’t see that changing really.

On the odd day i go to work or whatever, and forget to put on a watch, I feel naked the whole day long, horrible feeling....
When I was was younger I used to have a dream that I was naked at school. Coincidentally, I was wearing a watch.

I was on a Zoom call with my CEO yesterday; he wore an Apple Watch. Earlier, while on another call, I noticed almost all of my millennial and Gen Z colleagues wearing watches and none of these were Apple. Nothing to write home about from an enthusiast’s perspective, yet it’s refreshing to see younger folks wearing watches. And having a 20-something staff member at our local liquor shop comment on my Speedmaster a few weeks ago gives me hope for a new generation of timepiece fanciers.

Clearly we don't live in the same neighborhood.... I get to talk watches with someone I run into only once or twice a year. Thus why I hang out here.

The only thing is that I don’t talk watches that much with other people, even though I see a fair bit. To be honest most of the Rolex watches I see are on people who by the looks of it are not into watches. The last guy I chatted up in public and asked about his watch was a barista at a local coffee bar. He was wearing a very nice Hamilton Khaki.

Could buy a watch if I had a dollar for every time you’ve said that……..😗 😉

I'll be selling watch boxes soon 😉

...they will always borrow something from my meagre collection 🙁

Yes, we've seen where your "meagre collection" is stored....

Yeah Jones, someone had to do it. We knew that one was coming.

Funny thing was, I found that image on the Los Alamos National Laboratory web site -- you know, the folks who design and test nuclear bombs. It was an article about how they sometimes lose stuff 😲

That’s a very good point, I was sitting at a cafe during a recent week end with my Zenith tropical chronograph—
And the young waiter ended up asking me about it, he really loved the A386 and was clearly very much into watches.

We're just now planning to move back nearer to our old stomping grounds of Dallas-Fort Worth so maybe in that part of Texas I will find someone who gives a rip about neato watches.

I stopped wearing watches in about 1992 after more than 25 years wearing them and didn't restart wearing them until 2018, that's not to say I didn't have a few in my ownership but if you don't ask how many I wont say 😗

These things seem to come and go, my guess now is that we are at a resurgence point driven by the need to be different and own things that others do not.
Its passe' to own an iPhone Gazillion X or a Samsung whatever as every one else has one too.
So how to stand out from the faceless masses? easy wear a vintage watch or any thing that doesn't spout tech an anachronism that sets you apart ( you might get more lays as well)😝

Thats my take, yours might be different but the current Yuppy generation is like all that precede it, wanting to beleive they are different and make their own unique mark on the world.

Once she was home and I found out what she had been up to I had it serviced and it was as dry as a bone, 😀

Taken on dry land a couple of weeks ago,

Our first born often wears this lovely Eterna Matic, a gift from a good friend and fellow OF member 👍
