No Omega symbol on crystal of Ultraman

That’s fair enough, however when my Seamaster was serviced the new crystal was installed with the symbol on ‘straight’ and I presume the watchmaker got the tension ring in the right place at the same time.

Where is the split in the tension ring?

Is it a time thing at the factory

Yes, of course it's time related. But it's also related to the fact that the orientation of the symbol is not something they specify...to Omega it's not important.

- and do you install them any which way or with the symbol straight? I guess I must have more OCD than I thought 😲

I know my customers, so yes I orient the crystal with the symbol lined up.

Mine definitely has the logo. So do a few of my friends'. I suppose it is just hard to spot. Anyway, i have no time for the logo. Countless hours was spent admiring the whole watch. Hahaha.

When did putting the logo start?

Found them in all my omegas bought since 2017. But not those bought much earlier.

Depending on the model, late 1940's to early 50's

I was told they don’t align them on hesalite, but they do with the sapphire ones

There are logos on the 60th Anni SM and RM sapphire crystals, it is a new thing.

I work on the basis that if I see a Omega Hesalite crystal with an aligned logo, it must have been serviced and replaced at some point since the factory seem to take a perverse pleasure in issuing them misaligned, it is thus likely to not be the original crystal. I do realise that this conclusion isn't logical if they are put on randomly.

Dweeb, moi?

Correct, Speedmasters with sapphire crystal lack the Omega symbol, at least the older models

See 3 posts up. The 60th LE SM and RM models do have logos on the sapphire crystals, other older models do not.

Webster: noun. Someone who actually watched Ultraman, on purpose, when they were older then 10.

Have to say mine looks pretty good. More or less aligned with the applied logo on the dial

Just curious and sorry to derail but should a brand new sapphire speedy pro bought in the last few weeks have a logo on the dial?

Yes, but not on the crystal...

Thanks, for some reason I have got myself confused and read that only older sapphire doesn't have but newer ones do have the etched logo. I was just about to see if i could see mine on my new sapphire but i shan't bother giving myself eye ache! Out of curiousity, do they not etch the sapphire due to hardness and possibly weakening the integrity of it?

Well brands do it - Rolex does it, and also apparently Omega does on some the Trilogy watches, but not on any Speedmasters I've seen.

I don't think there's a concern really about weakening the sapphire - some brands cut away large amounts of the crystal from the underside to form magnifiers in the crystals (rather than apply them on top as Rolex does) and the crystals hold up fine.

Cheers, Al

I remember some chapters, I liked the Godzilla movies and everything about Japanese style monsters

I didn't know you could see the Omega logo on Hesalite crystals, honestly you learn something new everyday!

You can't see it at all unless you angle the watch and look closely?
