Hi again.

I'd like to ask the same question I asked in the post I'm quoting here.

Does anyone has a clue about my watch that my father gave me.
When was it made? 60's? 70's?

Thanks again to all those who read this message.

Would say 70s if I had of looked at the above link. 😉

Hi....handsome watch....I have a few Croton-Nivada-Grenchens, much underappreciated brand. I believe your watch dates to the early- to mid-1960s. You might find the linked article about the "Antarctic" line interesting Nivada Antarctic Chronometer: Forgotten Importance - Grail Watch (grail-watch.com) The featured watch is very similar to yours. Cheers!

These look like great watches to me, I really like the style and variety of dials that they have.....

great another watch for me to spend hours reading up on and hunting down! 🙁

Hello
I’m very new too this forum, and I have this Nivada Antartic 10 that I picked up a few months ago here in Sweden. I showed it too my local watchmaker and he was a bit bewildered by the non central rotor and it sparked my interest
I searched the internet but to no prevail.
I’m interested in all if any information about later models of the Antartic series because this one has nr 10 written on it and I could not find any information about this later model.
So I turn to you

I also noticed that most Antartic models have roman numerical system, but last night I found a Antartic 17 on a German sales-platform, it was a ladies watch. There wasn’t any information about but it seems they made more models after nr 10
I also contacted Nivada Grenchen in Switzerland and ask for any information. Regrettably they didn’t have any to give about the vintage Antartic models because it was lost when the company was sold.

”..I regret to inform you that we do not have any documents or records about this beautiful timepiece watch because Jacob Schneider transferred this company to the previous owner and all the records about vintage watches are lost…”

But I will be looking for more information, in the meantime I’m going to have the glass changed but as my watchmaker told me I’m looking too spend more on a glass with a magnifying window (for the date) then I spent on the watch. But I think that will really make a big change. I only polished the glass when I got it

I might have got that wrong I looked at the post again and it didn’t mention an Antartic 17 but a ladies Antartic with 17 jewels, but the headline in the post was in my defense a bit jumbled.
I just now got a suggestion that the Antartic 10 might be some sort of jubilee-watch of some sort.

But in any case if anyone has any more information about the watch I would really appreciate it
And thank you davy26 for your post

Pick this up recently 😀
Arrived this morning - very pleased.
A little staining on the dial but still a great little everyday wear.

That's a neat one. I've never seen this iteration with the c-case and interesting bezel. Nice find!

I have this version of the COSC as well. I loved this crazy crystalized icy dial on this one. You managed to capture it nicely in the photos! I've never seen the box though! Very cool.

I think it was the bezel that first caught my eye !.
Luckily, even the gold plating is intact with virtually no rubbing on corners etc.

Being a big fan of Nivada Antarctic, I've started writing a book on the same. I would be obligated if members would allow me to use their photos with credits.
I'm a full time horologist archivist and writer for over 3 decades and am currently writing a book on vintage watches. Was recently featured on #SPEEDYTUESDAY in Fratellowatches. Here's my NOS Nivada Antarctic F2
