Next watch for well rounded collection?

This is my current collection. 1991 Speedy 3592.50 Apollo XI, 1989 Seamaster Automatic 200m, Antique left hand omega serial 4,321,*** dates it about 1909 (I will be replacing that strap with a nice croc dress soon) and a Casio Protrek for real adventures.

Background: I dress business casual for work (almost always wear the speedy, it really goes great on all my straps) I prefer tool watches but have found myself needing a dressier watch recently. I have looked into both the Blue Skyfall AT and the Polar Explorer II 16570 to add more color, but they're completely different watches. I really want that beach to board room watch that I can appreciate as much as the Speedy.

Any input here would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

How about a vintage Datejust. They are very versatile with the oyster case, especially with a smooth or engine-turned bezel, but still a bit dressier than what you have.

Skyfall probably meets the do everything criteria better. The AT is also very versatile with straps. This is my AT on a bunch of different pairings, it's a different model (15000 gauss) but skyfall will be equally versatile. The Polar is nice and I have a 6 digit in mind for my next buy but I think AT probably work better for what you want.

I like the idea of a Datejust. My first "real" watch was a 1967 oyster date and I miss it. It would be nice to find one in my birth year, 1985. Thanks for the reminder.

I would add something dressy, for those times when you want to go the extra mile. The suggested DateJust could fill that slot but there is also fun to be had in playing by the “rules” and looking for something time only on leather in sedate colors. Maybe even precious metal. It would be something to push you out of your comfort zone and open up some new options for you.

Alternatively, I think something from the Montblanc 1858 / Heritage line up might fit in. They’ve got that vintage style with modern refinements. Or, something like the Zenith pilot series, which has some fun, but earthy color options that would add a bit of panache.

I think you already have a great eye for watches judging by your group in the picture, and I agree with Dan that a snazzy datejust might do the trick. An '85 should be fairly easy to round up as well. 👍

Edit: If you can forgo the birth year idea, that non-quick example that Dan posted is spectacular. Something like that oozes pure class.

The blue is 16000 (quick-set date movement with flat dial and smooth bezel) and the silver is 1603 (non quick-set with pie-pan dial and engine-turned bezel). 16030 and 16014 would be similar to the 16000, but with SS engine-turned and white gold fluted bezels, respectively.

I was in Sumpters jewelry in Charlotte NC not too long ago and saw a good looking silver linen dial DJ in the case. Asked what year it was, they said either 83 or 85, I believe. Good looking to me, though I don’t know Rolex that well. I’d be happy to breeze by sometime soon and check on the year if you think you’d be interested in it if it were a birth year ‘85.
I love the linen dial. Heck , I’d love a ‘72 myself.(preferably a sigma linen, if I could find one.)

The DateJust is a good suggestion for something to dress up. I'm also thinking that with the collection of tool watches that you have accumulated, you may even consider a Rolex Air-King if you want something a bit more utilitarian.

If you are willing to go old, how about just going a little further and get a vintage gold dress watch from the 1940s or 1950s. All the examples below are priced between 2300.00 and 4000.00 USD.

I love the JLC moon, great looking watch. Would it be too formal for work wear? I usually wear jeans and a polo for work and visit construction sites often....
