Deciding between adding an Eberhard Scafograf or a 145022 to my collection...such a difficult decision...I want to buy both LOL! But I'm only buying one. I currently don't have any chronos in my personal collection, yet I don't have a proper vintage dive watch either. Any thoughts?

    All feedback appreciated!!!

    Thanks!

Or the third option is a 145012 or a 105012

You talk about these as if they were new watches that you can order up. Much depends on the examples available. Get whichever is in the best condition.

Eberhard. Far less common, and a great design.

You've got a point--I've already located and secured two examples that I'm interested in (one Omega, one Eberhard). Except Speedy is in far better condition...

Definitely the scafograf if you have the opportunity. With patience you can find a nice speedy. With patience and luck, you may never find the scafograf.

There are Scafografs and there are Scafografs. The 100 and 200 are unicorns. The 300 is out there... there's a decent one on eBay now, though I could have sworn it had a proper bracelet in a prior listing. And then there are other, later Scafografs that are more common and less desirable. So what are we talking about? A 300?

I assume he is talking about a 300.

As you suggest, good luck finding the earlier ones. I own a 100, and was only able to obtain it (over a period of time) through private contact with another collector. Years can go by without one – particularly a good one – being on the market.

The one I may buy is a 200...condition isn't top and it's not with a bracelet, but the rarity is intriguing

Bracelet is key on those, IMO it really makes the watch stand out overall- However, if its at a great price relative to the market, go for it given they do do pop up very little.

Both watches (for the sake of argument I'm combining 145.022, 105.012, and 145.012 as one - IMO the only 145.022 that belongs in this conversation is the 68 transitional) merit consideration for any watch collection, and it is a difficult choice because for a watch enthusiast to choose between a great chronograph and a great dive watch is like trying to choose between oxygen and water :). So the answer is clear. Both. But whether or not you decide to buy either or both of these watches is dependent on three words: condition, condition, condition

The Scafograf is a very hard to find watch. Your watch looks awesome.

I am looking for Eberhard Scafograf 100/200 in original condition. If anyone can help me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
