Hi everyone,

I am just starting my watchjourney and bought a few cheap automatic watches to take them apart and hopefully back together.

A few days ago I bought cheap (probably not cheap enough) omega watch on ebay. It was a kind of spontaneous buy 馃榾 Now I am unsure if it is a fake, a watch with a redial or something else.
My thoughts:
- The caseback says 2503-1 but that doesnt seem to be the case for that watch.
- I couldnt find a similar dial via Google
- The triangle dial indizes look different to the other Omega dials

I guess it is a fake - or does anyone know this model?

Big thanks in advance!

It鈥檚 perfectly genuine.

There were huge variations in dial types so it鈥檚 often tricky to find an exact match of case ref and dial type.

From your picture I can鈥檛 tell if the dial is repainted and heavily patinated, or original and patinated.

As @Davidt mentioned, the details of the dial are not really what you should look at when determining if a watch is legit. The case looks correct for a 2503 and it has a 30mm movement from the right era. The Omega symbol on the dial looks a little funny at first glance, so I'd like to see better photos.

Here are some better dial pictures. Do you still think it is an original?

I still can't tell from your photos. The printing looks wonky, but the photos are suffering badly from compression artifacts.

I think it looks too patinated and damaged to be not genuine, so I'd vote for genuine

The spot on the left side of the Omega sign's end is unfortunate, I think it's making the logo look stretched/non-genuine while it seems genuine

Really doesn't matter I guess though, make sure to research radium and don't snort too much of it

The radioactive topic is another thing that is big questionmark. Any advise how to research? I read a few articles but i am unsure.

Admittedly I don鈥檛 have deep knowledge other than radium still being as radioactive - I already regret the few radium hands I delumed, best to avoid it I think no need for health risks

The topic has been discussed ad nauseam on this forum and others, and you can find as much information as you care to ingest. Try googling.

I have a 2503-6 for which I made a thread a few days ago. The case style is very similar on both our watches. Crown I believe is incorrect, as it should be reference 35003, but that's easy to solve. The dial does look good to me, but I'm also at the start of my journey, so no expert.

Indeed, there is a lot of information to ingest. The most important thing is don't ingest the radium.
