Its a model 311.30.42.30.01.005. It was a display model. Either way, this is completely unacceptable for a watch at this price point and that has such a reputation for rigorous testing. I'm extremely disappointed right now.

i dont think a display piece is a wise decision. I never go for this option if the only watch i want is there as display one....

since it is new, then the Warranty card is your safe weapon 馃槈

Call me paranoid, but before I purchase any watch from my AD, I always ask them to run a test on the watch and hand me the print out of the beats, rate, accuracy, etc...

It may not detect what the real issue is with a watch, but if anything is off at least they can look into it before you walk away with the watch or request a new one. One thing I don't do is purchase the display models unless it is the last piece and waiting list is high, but even then ask the watch be tested anyway 馃榾.

Again sorry to hear that about your speedy, rattle seems really off, my guess is the watch took a big jolt but if no sign of dents on the case, it could be either opened previously or quality escape from omega (highly unlikely).

Ok can I just say. I have a brand new Seamaster pro, I am reading this Blog because I have issues with the chrono just randomly stopping. I have to say it don't rattle. I thought I was winding it correctly JHC its only twisting crown. However, having read some of the points on here about not being able to overwind (with reasonable force) I decided as I will have to take it into the centre at Southampton (I live 30 mins away) I would have another go at winding it. wellllll I could wind it some more, infact I found it was probably almost not wound up at all. after about 40+more half winds it suddenly hit some kind of a stop and I could feel there was a mechanical stop. It now works perfectly. hells bells I would have been cheesed off losing the watch for a few weeks on an omega test rig only to find they could find nothing wrong. So moral is...its not a precious glass bauble it is a watch that has been fired into space. It seems I have been too respectful of it. No kid gloves for mine from now on. ITs a keeper anyway I love the history, Love the watch. I wear my seamaster 2221.80 for beach and swimming, my G-shock for my building site meetings and this will be my all other occasions watch. I got it to remember my late dad with and now like my dad I hope its going to be reliable and strong.

Just joining in this thread as I've experience the same issue with my speedmaster occasionally stopping. Lately today, but as soon as I pulled out the crown to set the time, it started running again. This problem has only occurred twice ever since I bought it this March. I will take it to Mappin and Webb here in London tomorrow where I bought and hear what they have to say ..

Just to add my experience, my brand new FOIS had stopped a day after I got it from my fiance. I know how to wound a watch, that wans鈥檛 the issue. The sub second hand would get stuck at 50 second marking area, I guess it was hittimg the dial because by tapping on the glass, the second hand would Gain. After day or two of monitoring the issue, took the speedy to the AD and got it taken care of (had to wait 3 months).
At the end, yeah...I can say the whole process was a big dissapointment but it does put smile on my face wearing it.
