This might be the right dial, the experts can confirm. ;-)

Timely post...I was having a discussion with two other collectors this past weekend as to when it's actually beneficial to purchase a Frankenwatch. The conditions, we felt, boiled down to the price of the watch and the depth of knowledge held by the buyer/collector (basically knowing what you're buying re: the valuable part(s) and having a purpose, i.e. buying for a super clean movement, pristine dial, etc.). At any rate, your purchase is a great example of "When-it's-smart-to-buy-a-franken. Well done!

Thank you, luck really but some intuition too. I learned a TON and looks like I'll be able to maybe get two watches if I do it right.

At $1300, you don’t need to waste time on analysis. Just leave the motor running, hand over the cash and get out of Dodge.

If it were me, I'd keep it as is. That dial is far more attractive than later dials. Sure it's not right - but it sure looks nice.

That's not bad advice either - it's an early 80's watch with a dial mod that looks more interesting than the original dial.

However, if he can end up with a nice clean period correct dial for it + cash in his pocket and still have a nice bargain watch to wear, maybe that is a smarter option.

6000usd for that seems rather farfetched, 6000 for period correct 68 with DON maybe...

Well serial is the same and theres additonal photos not listed in this thread so dont think someone is stealing the photos. You can price it whatever you want but curious why you say its a 145.022-69 now?

I think he already decided, unless someone is using his photos:

Oh bud... don't do us like that. After all that we've been through? 🤦. Fully lying through your teeth about the information we gave you?

"Looking for $6000 net to me or respectable trade.

Runs and keeps great time, can provide a video if it's helpful. All sub dials work and reset properly from my inspection. I've been wearing it for over 24 hours, minus time to take off the caseback for pictures and no issues.

This was a purchase from a local shop that was a little bit of a gamble but turned out. Only reason I want to move is because I would rather have a Broad Arrow Speedmaster and/or move the cash on to some other pieces. I'd rather have somebody who appreciates this patina monster for what it is.

This is a 145.022-69 with a super rare 1968 transitional dial on it that is SUPER clean. I've seen less quality dials go for $2,500+ for just the dial so this one could rocket... not a lot of these out there as they are for the 861 movement.

The case and bracelet look fairly untouched/polished and has some wear/character. I haven't done any cleaning as I would leave that to the buyer based on their preferences. The crystal has some scratches but nothing deep and would polish out if the buyer so desired to restore.

No papers or box but pictures should tell the deal.

What I'm looking for is a Broad Arrow, specifically the 145.0222 or the 3551.50.00. BUT I'm open to whatever trades, +/- cash offers that might arise. My aesthetic preferences are steel and darker dials but I'm open to anything interesting. I've done a couple deals on here and can provide my eBay username if desired to verify 100% feedback."

I am jumping to the lying stealing dirtbag conclusion. He is told in no uncertain terms that it is a 80s or 90s watch with some interesting parts so then tries to sell it as something it is not. It is great when the dishonest out themselves so readily.

Happy to see someone outed the seller.

This watch was discussed on another forum.
It is a speedmaster from the 80's which somehow got an old 145.022-68 dial and a new bezel. It is not a 145.022-69 watch.
