Something else: the Pictograms (on the Omega Red Card) include „SP“, which means „Special Packaging“. My OB is checking with Biel as they did not (yet) get special boxes. Will keep you posted.

Seems like there was a bit a rush in Biel with this one… Originally supposed to arrive in June only, then shipped ‚early’, yet first delivered with cards claiming a limited edition, now also indicating special packaging but not having any 😉.

Does not matter in the end as the watch itself is 100% spot on. 👍

Also available in gold too!
On the Omega website they wrongly describe the watch as originally having the 30 cal movement, these only had the 26.5 movement I believe.
Hi,
Although nearly all of the original 1930's CK859 that we see today have a 26.5 SOB inside, there were also some with cal 30 and with cal 23.4SC
Here are extracts from a 1940 French catalog :

22050201341819182117882742.jpg
Note that in this catalog, the one with caliber 30mm is 0.5mm wider than the 23.4SC....

I've never seen a CK859 with a cal 30mm in the metal, and the only one with a 23.4SC I could get is complete and original but a real wreck (don't pay attention to the dark circle on the dial, it is the reflection of my camera lens...) :

This leads me to think that both 30 and 23.4SC were manufactured in a much lower production and are significantly rarer than the 26.5.

Well this is good that a new release was actually available almost immediately. Only other watch I can think of that Omega pulled this off with is the 3861 Speedmasters.

Well, the new 1957 Speedmasters, and updated SM 300MCs were available within a month or two after release. It used to be the case that watches announced at Basel would not be available for some time.

I forgot about those 2. It's better than nothing but I still wish they could be more like Rolex with new releases. They actually have watches for sale to their VIP's pretty soon after release for the most part.

Always happy to be put right by the master of these early watches. Thank for your knowledge 👍
Now I am on the lookout for even more watches 😁
Cheers, Michael

any update if there is really a special packaging assigned? This would Complete the package and honor the watch.

Is quite disappointing if there is no special packaging for a speciality piece, I saw some unboxing video and they are just using the Seamaster line box.

No, not yet. Think that can take some time. For now ‚only‘ the normal box but I am sure they would exchange it if there is a special box.

Rumor has it that the box also had an engraved plaque with the limited number …/2859 (or whatever it was on the wrong cards) so they had to reorder it from the supplier 🍿. No, that‘s just me making up a story actually 😉

Bothy my FOIS and Trilogy Seamaster originally arrived in "generic" boxes (minus the straps and loupe, oddly, with the FOIS.

My AD put in requests for both and we received the original-spec boxes in short order. Not sure why this happened but the AD said it was "neither common nor rare," a line I've since come to appreciate.

A shot to sway over those on the fence:

(Review coming soon)

i was swayed. first new omega i have bought. . like ever basically

will see how the 39mm sits. . for me the baltic bicompax at 38mm width x 12mm thick is literally perfect

big big fan of this. would be better as a manual wind but checks all the boxes. does not wear too big (and i love 36mm vintage carreras) which was my fear

i am very harsh on modern omega but this one really pops as a vintage inspired new piece

you're right -- covid brain !

i am unclear why they need a "jump hour" where if you pull the crown out half way it advances a whole hour

great piece either way

It was explained to me to make changing time zones very easy without stopping the watch to adjust the time when traveling. Do we “need” it? No. Is it a nice feature? Sure.

Purchased mine from an OB in the US and it was just the regular Omega presentation box - no limited packaging. (My very nice Sales Representative did give me a complimentary "007" branded loupe left over from the No Time To Die promotion and included a free service for an older Omega that I have. Your mileage may vary.)
