Thinking of getting a Staib mesh but unsure about which thickness I shd go for. Seen ranges of 2.5mm to 3.5mm in thickness. How thick is the titanium mesh on this?
It will scratch, but the scratches will be less visible than on steel. My X-33 Skywalker is made out of the same grade 2 titanium. The Ti bracelet and clasp have a few scratches and It definitely scratches easier than steel. Nothing terrible, and for me it really adds to the watch. The first ones hurt, then they become memories
It scratches very easily. The scratches are actually more visible, since they show up much easier on a brushed finish than polished.
I was comparing brushed Ti with brushed SS. I find they are a little less visible on brushed Ti. But as said it a scratches easier than steel. Don’t know if I would add “very”, but I am biased, can’t wear any steel due to a strong nickel allergy...
Oh yes, if you're interested in the bracelet version I recommend either having any swaps done by the AD or Omega Boutique, or treating it like you're defusing a bomb. Truly truly disappointing watch at its price point
Kind of unfortunate to hear it’s so easy to scratch especially with how expensive it is. Any tips on how to keep it looking new/remedy the scratches?
I think you just have to accept that the watch will get marks from day to day wear. I really think it adds to the character of the watch over time. It’s a mindset If you want a watch to look exactly like the day you bought it a few years down the line, this is not the watch for you. The only metal watches that I know that will do that are the Damasko ice hardened steel pieces. That steel is amazing, if rather dull looking.
Yep, any watch will get marks eventually. The aim is to keep them minor, though. For instance I had a Speedmaster Apollo XI-45th, never had much trouble with it. Over the years, I've just developed a sense of where my left wrist is, and what to avoid doing with it (like reaching into mailboxes and such, which could bang a watch up). Try wearing a large, beater watch around your house and pay close attention as you walk around for a few weeks. You'll soon develop a habit of moving your left wrist out of the way of doorjambs and such.
