I've had a thing for Omega Triple Date Moon Phase Cosmics for a few years now and I'm always looking for nice ones to add to my collection, to me these are still some of the best value vintage Omega's out there and have many interesting dial and case variations which make them a joy to own and collect. There are a few of the references that are much harder to find than others, one of which is the jumbo 37mm CK 2486 in steel. Of the round cased Cosmic references these are the largest and whilst relatively easily found in rose gold filled, they are very few and far between with a steel case. And of course as with all Cosmics most seem to have redials, generally of a very poor standard. This CK 2486 popped up a couple of weeks ago at a bricks and mortar auction house in DE and my lust was immediately aroused so after some good communication with them I left a commission bid and to my astonishment I won it last Saturday for the low estimate opening price. Incredibly it seems that I was the only bidder - I still can't believe my good fortune as I hadn't really been expecting even to get close to owning it. So it only seemed right to take half a day off, jump into the car and take a road trip to Western DE to collect in person....and of course a trip to another country is not complete without sampling the local delicacies....in this case it was the Currywurst und Kartoffeln of a roadside eatery, yum And then the watch... There seems to be some uncanny relationship between me, moon phase watches, the World Cup and auction house trips as almost exactly 4 years ago during the 2018 WC I had won a Parisian auction for a fantastic Mulco Prima moon phase chrono which I also collected personally... ( see my post here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/paris-day-trip-with-the-perfect-ending.78708/ ) Well the 2486 is everything I'd hoped for and fits well in with the rest of my Cosmic collection and just as I did in 2018 with my Mulco I'll be wearing it tonight as a good luck charm should England end up in a WC penalty shoot out with Senegal!
Another Stunner! @cristos71 The Rugby World Cup is in France next year, I would be most grateful if you could find me one there with a good luck final win thrown in. Awaiting your immediate response.
Agreed on the TDMPs being an underpriced corner of the vintage omega market. This is a sterling example.
