Looks like SL H & M hands then. Why would the hands glow more than the dial otherwise? If you managed to get a tritium second hand fitted I’m happy for you but I note the red paint is very faded so it’s either been there decades or was second hand when fitted.

On post 1997 ones, I don't understand why bother with polished ones, shiny ones or else. Shape doesn't really matters. Buy low price then go Omega still we can.

Most people want a watch they can put on their wrist and enjoy immediately rather than spend an extra $700 and wait 2-6 months for Omega to service it. Especially, I have to assume, the OP who is buying his first Omega and doesn't have 10 others sitting in the watchbox that can be worn while awaiting the service to be completed.

Yes, what I was saying. Lum H/M and original Tr Second. Yes it's an original second hand, put in by an Omega retailer. I understand why you find that odd but still.

Before servicing all the hands were like the 2531 up there that are falling appart. They won't do much more road... At some point, you have no choice but to change them. Eventually put them back after re lum.

You'r right but still a bad bet to my mind. You will have to service it anyway. When those internet retailers are saying serviced, they just talking about a bit of polished and eventually waterproof test in a glass. No more.

Below a very good example of what happens next.

I have nothing against CC, my other avatar 2541 is coming from them. But a 20 years old 2892 can't have anything but problem with the rotor. It's well known and I personally had the problem twice. You can't really have Omega parts whitout going through Omega. So what next ?

Admitting that the good independent does the job witch is not even sure depending the problem, you will still have to goes apart with your watch and pay the service...

2541 post 1997 in not so good shappe can be found around 1600 + 800 = 2,4 fully seviced. Potentially 2,7 if you change the bezel too. Is it that pricy for a watch you will really enjoy ?

But sure at the end, everybody does as they want/please.

How long ago was it fitted?

My 2531.80 was serviced in 2023 with a new a bezel fitted "as a gesture of good will"

I love the low silhouette of these compared to the modern ones.

When I bought it, I could have bought the quartz, it was just a matter of which I found first.

How's the service bezel compare to the original? To my knowledge I'm still on my original, it has light marks on it but I'd be worried the new one would be darker.

Both inner and outer bezels were marked so the new one is a vast improvement
I hadn't asked for a new bezel.
Mind you they did try selling me a new bracelet and said they wouldn't touch it due to the poor condition
I've heard other people say Omega tried selling them a new bracelet too during the service

They will suggest and offer a new bracelet to replace badly worn/damaged bracelets to which they have a low confidence in being able to service. And they return the old bracelet, in addition. Miscreants! 🙂

Looks fantastic! Mine is going in this year. I beat my bracelet to absolute shreds and had to replace it lol.

Some 2531.80 love today

Very nice. I try to keep mine looking as new, but honestly there is a lot to be said for how good these yellow tritium lumed and beat up examples look. You can tell this watch has seen some action. Great choice on the rubber strap too, I did the exact same on mine, massive fan of it.
