Hello all,

My project is to buy a vintage omega and I will need your expertise. I'm sure you know some specific models which can fit with my research.

My criterias if it can help :
- Day-to-day wearable watch
- Silver case not gold
- Date function
- Automatic movement
- budget 1000€/$1000
- Year 60-80

One example of model I have found with the link if you need more details/picture : 168.017

Thank you for your help

There are an overwhelming amount of refs to choose from with your criteria. Since you mention everyday wearability I’d suggest to set your limit for a purchase at a lower price point and factor in a full service.

There should be plenty suggestions on this thread, or even in the classifieds here. Note that for relatively common refs like the mentioned C-shape Constellation, I’d avoid buying from somewhere abroad that would cause import duties upon arrival of the watch. There are plenty around with just a bit of patience, no need to buy from the EU as an American or vice versa (unless it’s incredibly cheap)

In the budget of 1000Euro for a vintage Omega you have plenty of models. I would suggest to look on eBay auctions maybe you will spot a model you will like. I assume "silver" it's a stainless steel watch 😀

To be safe in your purchase of your first Omega I would stick to the sales section of this site. You can send and receive messages as a new member and that's all it takes to buy something. You won't be ripped off as opposed to buying from strangers. Not to mention the watches offered here are usually much better than on auction sites. Certainly described more honestly 👍

On average I’d definitely agree - but here, also, the buyer should do his due diligence. We also have a good number of people here with ambitious asking prices, descriptions that might not be straight false but leave out certain bits, etc.
As a rule of thumb for the OP, check how many likes a FS post gets here. If there’s only a handful or less, more often than not, that’s for a reason.

Anyway, this isn’t supposed to sound too negative: there’s still no better place to get into this beautiful hobby. 😀
