Hello all,

I need your help to get an estimation of an omega seamaster bumper from 1952 (seral number 13xxxxxx).
2576-5 Cal 344. Serviced by Omega with warranty, and parts replaced by Omega.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Unfortunately we will be of no use without photos. What I will say is that the Omega service probably hurt the value more than helped it.. but it depends on what they replaced.

Even with pictures, this is a very difficult ref to evaluate. Somehow, in the last few weeks alone, I've seen everything from a privately offered example for 1600€ to one in a no-reserve auction on eBay that went for ~600€ or so and another one by a large dealer on C24 (usually a rather expensive platform) for 4xx€. All stainless steel examples. Yes, the condition does play a role, of course, but they were all legit examples and somehow, the prices for this ref seem to be all over the place, which I personally can't fathom.

Regardless of how much work Omega did and what they replaced, the watch definitely will not be worth as much more than before as Omega charged, I'm afraid.

As noted, photos would be needed. And since you are a new member, a brief introduction and some context would be welcome. This is a community of collectors, not a free appraisal service.

If you want to research value yourself, I'd suggest using the advanced eBay search to find SOLD examples of the same basic reference (2576). You can also include sold watches from forum sales listings. Make adjustments for condition/originality with the watch you are considering/selling.

Dan, you’re never going to land that retirement gig as a Walmart greeter if you keep this up. 😉

I'm pretty sure that's not exactly a wanted practice for Walmart greeters tbh.

Nah, I'm ususally too lazy to put on clothes for that at all.

After this brief detour regarding our shopping attire (or lack thereof), I'd like to emphasize to @kaspari that this:

As noted, photos would be needed.
Unfortunately we will be of no use without photos.

refers explicitly and exclusively to pictures of the watch in question. Just saying.

Less than what you paid for it + the Omega service cost which pretty much tops 99% of any watch maker that would work on it.

If you hang on to it for another 10 years or so. Values might go high enough to get your original investment back

To present myself, i'm new in Omega world and I would to buy a seamaster to start my collection.
I got the point to always post pictures if I need help, sorry for that.
Unfortunately the watch has been sold.

Thank you for your help. Hope I will be able to follow your guidelines..

I totally fell in love of seamaster master, especially old models 50' 60' but I'm totally lost in this new world, so much watches so much selling platform.
I'm currently focusing on chrono24 as it is easier to filter and find the watch I like.
I've seen this one:
https://chrono24.app/omega/seamaster-30--id21648970.htm?checkoutId=4363719?SETLANG=fr_FR&SETCURR=EUR

I think its too expensive but it is not fact based.

C24 is generally considered as overpriced but you can find nice watches. Your best bet is to look at the private sales forum right here on OF.
You can also learn a lot and see some decent deals by reading & following this thread:

As a new collector, C24 is not a bad place to start to research what models are available, but price-wise sellers often charge a premium on that platform.

The more time you are willing to spend doing research, the less you'll pay for the right watch when it turns up.

Wise, wise words. But when you find that one special watch that you're sure you'll never see again, and it's twice what others go for but it's absolutely perfect and you can just barely afford it... don't look back, or you'll regret it the rest of your life.

Ask me how I know. Or, rather, don't, too painful.

Yep.

Omegaforums is a sort of therapy group for this 🙁
