Saw this one being listed , and the price aren’t goin too high, wonder what’s off about it.
To me , the serials are within range , but the hands seems to be slightly short and the dial seems too matte than other ultraman dial.

I’m no pro ,so hope other people can weigh in about it!!

The length of the chrono hand looks good. I see no red flags here but I always find it questionable how you can use a potato as a camera when photographing such a high-priced watch.

Regarding the length of the chrono hand you can use this as help (Copyright)

Haha , sometimes I wonder too

thank you for the chart , I see some says the chrono hand should surpass the minute marker.

Hm ok. At least on the penultimate picture, it looks like he would ... whatever. Personally, I would always insist on an EOA before buying an Ultraman. That doesn't mean that the hand is still an original ultraman-one, but at least it reduces the possibility that just some orange-colored hand was tinkered with a normal Speedy.

Does EOA stand for extract from archive ?

considering the super thin tip of the original Ultraman hand, the chances of having something « tinkered with something » with a result looking like the original are close to zero...

I was wondering when someone would start a thread about this one.

Well over 200 watchers - I don’t think it will end anywhere near the current bid though - real or not.

The photos suck - it’s really hard to tell anything definitively from them.

The seller confirmed me they don’t have an EoA...Pretty suspicious IMO that a seller wouldn’t invest a couple hundred $ to get one that would confirm its authenticity if he was sure of it...
The serial fits pretty well though!😎

There is currently a 6-8 month lead time for getting an extract ordered in the US

Extracts would not confirm anything - Omega records do not indicate what was born an Ultraman. If you know someone and they do a visual inspection of the hand, it is possible to have them add the remark "special model fitted with an orange hand".

Ok...I thought this was written directly on the abstract :/

Yes, it can be if you have a relationship and let them either examine it or send detailed photos. This is still not a guarantee of anything. It just means you have the correct reference number and the correct size hand. Which is of course better than nothing, but would not help a ton in this case.

So how to be sure you buy an Ultraman???...
(I thought the extract was a proof, based on the serial, and based of a real research in archive, or microfilm, or something else... Too naive?...)

Provenance is the only foolproof way - original owner, original documentation, etc.
Based on my research, there is nothing in Omega records indicating definitively which models from the serial batch have an orange hand.
That is also why nobody knows the exact number produced.

Guess I’m too naive haha , and yes I agree the photo sucks for such a watch that people really need to confirm the photo.

It’s also what catch me as well , unless the seller need cash flow like now , it’s almost guaranteed it’ll sell for more if they wait for a extract from archive.
