Hi. I've been wanting to buy a Speedmaster (moonwatch) for some time now. Preferably pre 1996 and with tritium, but I don't have much knowledge about vintage Omegas. So I came here. Pardon my English - I'm Norwegian. I came across this 145.022 -74ST caliber 861. It's allegedly recently checked by AD, and the movement is fine. But what about the rest? The asking price is 3.240 USD and the watch comes head only. Is this something I should pursue or steer away from? And why? In advance..: Thanks. (I've asked for more pictures, and I'll post them here if and when I get them). Thank you for your time.
Google speedmaster101. That website has a lot of info on pre1980s speedmaster. And a price guide as well. The lume on your example looks like it has been cleaned off.
Hey @arvidrattlaas welcome. Speedmaster 101 is a great resource, built by a member here @Spacefruit Here's the page he wrote on the 71-78 145.022 variants - http://speedmaster101.com/145-022/145-022-71-74-76-78/ Hopefully that helps get you started on your quest for knowledge. Cheers Chris
Seems a bit high with the wrong modern bezel replacement. Dial is correct for a -74 and is an easy to ID dial. Lume seems off Correct bezel and dial for a 145.022-74. Notice the S in the Speedmaster logo does not drop to the level of the p. In domed dials only -74 and some -76 had that. For the bezel look at the dot near the 70 and the tachymeter font.
Unfortunately, it looks like it has too many replacement parts to be a viable purchase for the selling price.
It would only be MAYBE worth that price if it came with a documented recent service. And that's still pushing it given the replacement parts, and that all the lume has been scrapped off the plots. I think a fair price on that would be closer to $1K less
Without the lume plots, it's really unattractive. I personally feel that ageing lume plots are one of the biggest attraction for vintage watches.
Hi again everyone. I have come across another watch and would appreciate your comments on this offer: 145.022 -71 Price: 5000 USD Pictures: The seller states that this 145.022 -71 has the correct dot next to ninety bezel, stepped dial and original hands. No replacement parts that he knows of. Original 1171 bracelet in good condition. Serviced in 2016. No B/P, but an additional leather strap is included. He states that the price (5000 USD) is based on similar objects on Chrono24. I think the case looks sharp. But what about the rest? I obviously have to get pictures of the movement and case back, and I'll post them here when/if I get them. I'm no expert, but I think the price is a bit high. Do you guys have any comments on this offer?
4- 4.25k max with bracelet. The dial lume is not that exciting and the missing paint on small seconds. That is no where near 5k in my opinion. http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/
I'm thinking it's just below good with @$800 for the bracelet. Remember Speedmaster101 is head only no bracelet.
Thanks for the advice. Additional pictures: View attachment 398050 What do you guys think? Condition good + 800 for the bracelet = 4300 usd? Fair price?
Have a look in the sales section here, our leading Speedmaster expert Spacefruit has a very nice Pre Moon Speedmaster for sale for a little more. If you have the money consider buying that one. All the best Nathan
It's your money and you have to look at the hour marker at 4 o clock and the missing paint on the seconds sub dial hand.
A wise member told me once "better to pay slightly more for the right example than pay less for the wrong one"
