·Monday of this week, I put on my Speedmaster Date 3316.50, like I would any day and went to work; the watch was as lovely as when I took it off the night before (no, I don't sleep with it on). Monday was a quiet day around the office; nothing out of the ordinary. Monday evening, I looked at my watch to see the time and to my horror, the crystal looked like this.
Now, I have no recollection of going a few rounds with Hulk Hogan or having a car back over me, so I am baffled as to what caused the crystal to crack as if an elephant had stomped on my wrist. I certainly think I would have noticed a whack strong enough to do that kind of damage.
Well, Tuesday morning I reached out to keeper of all Omega part numbers. Within a few minutes, @Archer provided the part number for the crystal along with the gasket part number (you're the best, Al). Luckily, I found them on eBay and ordered them. Of course, they aren't in the US.
Just for fun, I reached out the the local OB to see about installation by their in-house tech. Nope, it would have to go to the service center or maybe even Switzerland. Being Wednesday, neither the tech nor my salesperson was there for me to get a straight answer.
Both parts should be here by the end of February and, hopefully, I won't have too much trouble having it installed by one of the local watchmakers I use.
