MY quest to own just one watch...

I chuckle every time I see this thread's title.

You at least need to have a dress watch and a casual watch, right?

And maybe a sport watch?

And a watch that you wear to the local pub when there is a chance you might fall down on the way home?

And a cool old chronograph?
And a diver?
And a military?

And then you have the whole black band, brown band, steel band thing. I mean you can't get caught wearing a black band with brown shoes, right? And for that matter, black is always black, but brown is never brown. And who wants to swap out the band every morning?

And we haven't even mentioned a world timer or GMT yet.

And you gotta have at least one tonneau case, right?

And? And? Aaaaahhhhrghh!

I get what you are saying, but I truly wish I could do it. If it weren't for a few that I have attached sentimental value, I'd love to have one watch -something like the Explorer, or OP39 (not a fan of the latest), or even a DateJust. But then I just got the Speedmaster and that could work too...maybe.

More realistically, a 3 watch collection for me would be the Speedmaster, an Explorer (or Sub - 5 digit), and Reverso.... but I could never get rid of my Grandpa's Deville, or my Planet Ocean that has attached memories, and I might as well keep my two Seiko divers for yard work, because one isn't enough...A GMT would be nice to have as well...a ha ha, you're absolutely right.

Any opinions on the original "Bond" watch as a ONE WATCH collection? Or should I stop and be content with 3 watches

The only way to truly be content with one watch is to lose your interest in the hobby. You clearly care too much about the hobby to ever be satisfied with one or three of your existing watches. It’s a journey, so why obsess over seeking contentment? Just enjoy the ride, and if you feel like you got enough watches at the moment, just slow down.

Even non-collectors will often have two watches: a daily and and a dress watch. One watch to cover everything is not a collection, it’s an intellectual conundrum.

A philosophical question perhaps, but can one watch be considered a collection, or is it just, well, one watch?

Given that there was about a one year period in 7th grade when I thought this watch would be my favorite forever, I don't deserve to have an opinion on this topic. In my defense, I was seduced by technology.
