Hello
I have just acquired locally this jumbo (37mm diameter) for roughly USD$ 1,000. Thank to this knowledgeable community I have learnt a lot on spotting 'good' item. Hopping I did well this time although the crown is wrong one.
One other thing that worries me is that cross-hair dial. Do you think all checks except the crown. Thank you.
Ref#168.001 Val 561 Serial 24m range.

For a Constellation Jumbo in this good a condition, I think you've made an absolutely amazing buy. No red flags at all on this one. Looks perfect. Congratulations, @river9 !

Enjoy it!

Beautiful watch and good price. 👍

Apart from the crown, I think the second hand might be a replacement.

Looks great. Crown is a replacement, not 100% sure about the seconds hand. Crosshair dial on a jumbo model for $1K is a good deal any day of the week.

Hard to find these with a clean dial and a sharp case, and at this price it‘s a steal. Well done!

acquired locally
If locally means Saigon then you should be very careful.
The crown and the second hand are not original to the watch, the minute markers are not consistent and cross hair dial on a 001 (?).
AUTOMATIC is a bit too large compared to OFFICIALLY CERTIFED don't you think?.

Regards.

Yes watch bought in Saigon. Could you work out in detail "minute markers not consistent" for my education.

About cross-hair on 168.001 dial: It is true that I found on the net only one example!

Thanks

Can you share that example?

The normal rule for Constellations is that cross hairs on a pie pan stop at the index / numeral but with a dome dial they go all the way to the edge of the dial.
However, I would suggest that all bets are off with jumbo dials as, given the variations in text styles, they are essentially ‘specials’.

Some of the minute markers look smaller than the other.
