Thanks, I've seen that but according to this document the 547 links are correct.
Can anyone confirm if they have fitted 540 endlinks to a Seamster 120?

I think it’s important also to address the grey writing, while I cannot 100% confirm that the grey writing dials are fake, I can make a very educated assumption that an overwhelming amount of vintages pieces have white writing. This includes ones in great shape and ones in not so great shape.

All grey lettering dials appear on the watches that are labeled “like new” and “NOS”. The grey also appears on some very sketchy Etsy and eBay sellers who are labeling their fakes as like new.

So I would advise members looking for an authentic Seamaster 120 to read this thread and “Say Na To The Grey”.
Yeah, it's getting more difficult to tell between fake and service replacement parts. The grey writing along with almost all of the differences, from the bezel to the case and the dial (sold as the kit), alone are not exactly conclusive that all of that is fake. Remember that the "watchco" SM 300 is different to the vintage SM 300 in everything visible. It was easier with the old fake, but even the OP of this thread bought his fake SM120 and for a while thought it was all service replacement watch, until I pointed out the fake parts.

Perhaps the sudden appearance of loads of new parts after long period of NLA, along with anything suspicious from the seller, is more indicative.

I know, it’s not much. Just twi pictures.
What do you think about the dial and back of the watch? Anything suspicious?
Asking for a picture of the movement.

Thx!

Nothing suspicious... but I think it is the women's version (small size).

Yep it looks like the small version which is worth considerably less and isn't really any good for an adult male.

Beside the the lume pip difference in the first picture, nothing looks fake on this watch. You guys needs to study this model family more carefully.

They've spelt the word Seamaster "SeaNaster" (small "n" ) on the green dial and bezel one, It's very close but if you remember doing joined up writing at school over and over again, there is no initial post to the "m" on the fake, and that's apart from all the other irregularities that you can see, spelling i'd have thought would be pretty important, the key thing the counterfeiters rely on is that we want to believe it's real, so we look for reasons to prove that, we're eternally optimistic about our latest watch-need, when really it's healthier to be sceptical until there's nothing left to disbelieve about it, the burden of authenticity proving should lay with the seller, but an optimist with cash is their best friend, and if the optimist is impatient then what more does he need, play the waiting game, with a little bit of "lots of interest in this one" just for good measure

in my opinion the real one, poorer resolution but still visible and proper "m":

And again my opinion the fake with the "n", slightly better resolution than the above photo so should be more visible

No love for the 166.073 SM120?

I like the dial and bezel but the case looks like an overpolished soap bar...

Not sure if anyone is watching this auction but beware of the redial, replaced crown, and suspect bezel.

Looks like another watch put together with the fake kit. Auction ends today and is currently at €1000. Has anyone informed the 'experts' at Catawiki?
That wont help. They do nothing after reporting it. I did it once (also with a fake 120). They did nothing.

.. so i shared this information on several group pages on FACEBOOK .. fake watch @ auction ... sure enough there is always one person who must make a comment to ridicule the information shared as oppose to be able to understand the context it was shared with other watch collectors ........ PEOPLE ... sigh ... there is always that one person

more someone didn’t have their coffee and went on a 5 post rant on the person that pointed out there are a lot of fake watches out there and perhaps you should point out what’s wrong with it to teach. Claiming everyone at OF is spreading the news far and wide that this is a fake is a little over reacting don’t you think? I mean there are a lot of fake watches on auction right now including a claimed prototype at a major auction house.

I didn’t read it as ridicule just that you where over exaggerating.
FYI post was pulled as that group deletes any mention to OF.
