I have had this 1969 Speedmaster for more than 10 years and a safe queen for maybe 8 years. During the covid pandemic lockdown, I took out some of the watches from the safe. I was quite surprised by the nice patina that developed on the hour markers on this particular Speedy as it was much lighter before its hiatus. I decided to changed the steel bracelet with a black leather strap with yellow piping which matched well with the watch. Its now part of my watch rotation.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that’s not a 69 dial, it’s a 90s tritium dial. The tells are 1) the lack of step 2) the font of ‘omega speedmaster’ 3) the color (and application) of the lume (of which every single 90s Speedmaster I have ever seen shares...so probability says that’s the color from new).

Is the step dial the same for the pre moon 69? I looked at it with a magnifier now and it has a small step on the dial.

And what if it was a late 80s/early 90s Speedmaster with a Straight Writing caseback retro-fitted? ::stirthepot::

-> have a look at the movement, the serial number could be telling a different story 😀

I will bring it to my watchmaker now to open the back and picture the movement number.

I am by no means sure that this movement is from a later period but checking this could potentially prevent you from buying a useless dial when all you might need is another caseback 😁

Omega Forums is like a friend telling you your wife has liquidated your assets and is on a private jet with her 23 year old boyfriend to some country that does not extradite to the US LOL!!!
You don't wanna hear your watch isn't exactly what you thought but glad to know the truth...
