Dear members, I wish to share with you my new purchase: my first Omega Speedmaster 145.022-69 Straight Writing. It took me time to pull the trigger as the only pictures provided were those below: I first tought the hands combo were suspicious as their color on the pictures is really white that is unlikely on aged tritium hands... After discussion with the seller (a friend of the first owner), I have finally deceided to buy the watch as I was looking for a Straight Writing for a while (and also because the price was very smooth ). Once this lady in my hands, I have found a super nice step dial with matching hands. A simple UV test has shown the plots/hands combo is Tritium ! I know the patina is not the same than the Straight Writing posted by @BatDad but I love it. The hesalite crystal is stratched but nothing very "terrible". I think the case is very sharp (the brushed effect on the sides is still clearly visible), the DNN is in very good condition. The Straight Writing caseback has lost most of its black paint but still, the inscriptions are clearly visible. I think both the crown and the pushers are correct. The watch came with its 1171 bracelet with 633 endlinks. As an extra, a completely NOS 1162/1/73 bracelet was also provided with the watch. I guess the first owner wanted, as some point, to change the bracelet and purchased the 1162 and finally figured out that the later is not appropriate for this Speedy . Finally, I simply love this watch so much that it's just stuck on my wrist everyday Here are the pictures : Cheers. Dr. R.
I have envisaged to polish the crystal but I'm afraid to make the central Omega logo disappearing by the polishing process...
I thought polishing an original crystal with vintage style logo was a no no. Althought Im guilty for doing it in the past my current stand is not to polish the original crystal. Just buy a new one and save the original. MHO
